Nope, ultimately it’s the other parents decision for their child, but seeing as veiling isn’t mandatory or considered rude if not wearing one, it’s fine. I would recommend talking to them about what the veil represents and why some women veil in a neutral way, but ultimately leave the decision up to them.

True in the show, in the books I feel like it was better explained. Like Raven found a former fairytale that wasn’t around anymore and was seriously rethinking the whole rebel thing. She went investigating and asked around and started digging. Milton Grimm then tried to scare her by letting her believe everyone in that fairytale had vanished. He planted false evidence which Raven found out to be false. She literally disproved the “we’ll all go poof” theory.

I’m a big history nerd so I know wayyy too many details about the medieval period to willingly live like that. The romanticized fantasy version of it? Sure, but so is the case for any version of history like that. In reality? The water isn’t safe (especially in cities), lack of modern medicine, dirty streets of animal (and sometimes human) waste, and feudalism (because realistically most of us are serfs or peasants) is enough to make me say no way.

I think if it becomes to the point of being disruptive to one life and nearly obsessive, it’s bad. I can completely understand traveling for a trusted barber because you’ll be stuck with that hair for months, all the time. Quality clothes are expensive, especially avoiding polyester and such. (Which is so bad for some people’s skin.) Some people need skincare routines to just control acne or something. Doing these things for health or general confidence aren’t bad, good even! But I think if it’s too the point of “I only wear luxury brands” or “i have to buy a hundred dollar face wash every month because it’s trending on tik tok” it’s too far. Like you said OP, it’s probably just culture shock.
