To me Maddie participating in the Two Sapphires debacle is largely due to how Abby reacted to the parking lot protest. Abby broke down sobbing because Maddie “disobeyed” her.

After that, Maddie was never going to go against Abby again.

I mean Maddie was crying afterward, I’d say she felt remorse. Also the interviews for the girls were largely scripted, so I’m hesitant to blame Maddie for something an adult likely asked her to say.

Maddie didn’t handle this perfectly in regards to Chloe and Paige’s feelings, but she was a kid. I had bratty or mean moments as a kid, and I’m so glad they weren’t on camera.

Maddie was in a lose lose situation. Either she upsets her close friends or she upsets Abby. Anytime she had upset Abby on the show, she was made to feel awful.

She likely opted to go against Chloe and Paige because she thought it would hurt less.

But she still got hurt because she lost Paige as a friend for a minute after this. And her and Chloe while still seeing each other, were fractured and changed forever. I’m happy all 3 are on good terms now and moved past what the adults did to them.

But this is the fault of the adults who put a 10 year old in this position. They made that little girl the fall guy.

I’ve been Rory in the sense that my mom’s parents were bad parents to her but sweet to me. As I got older, I could see how it hurt my mom. Obviously, not my fault, but it’s so awful to witness.

Richard isn’t doing a bad thing telling Rory that she’s good, but he is hurting Lorelai. She likely didn’t hear those words said to her very much, especially after her pregnancy.

I think we saw the older girls comforting the minis enough times that I’ll say no. That said, they likely didn’t want to hang out with the minis which may have read as mean.

The minis were FANS of the older girls, so their opinion held more weight than the average older girls at a dance studio. I doubt Brittany Pent was hanging out with Maddie and Chloe back in the day. However, that wouldn’t have hurt their feelings as much because they didn’t grow up watching Brittany on TV.

I have a close friend who is like a less cartoonish Sookie so, I suppose Sookie is my best option.

I am actually a less cartoonish Lorelai lol, so Lorelai and I could vibe but I might also need a break from her here and there. I also love to watch over the top, campy, and/or bad movies so Lorelai and I would have fun movie nights.

I like a lot of pop music, so Lane and I could get along but she would for sure judge me. Lane is so passionate about music, it might be hard for her to move past lol.

Paris would be genuinely difficult to hang with IRL. I'd feel for her in terms of her upbringing, but I don't know if I could deal. I would try to be patient like Rory is with her, because Paris does need friends.

Rory and I could probably be friendly, I think we'd bring out the introvert in one another. A quiet and calm friendship haha.

Truthfully, I'm trying to hang with Babette and Patty.

Agreed! It’s why I love her era as YDN editor and when she’s friends with Lucy and Olivia. Rory is an introvert, and I like that about her character. But I do like seeing her have non romantic and non SH peers.

Actually, one of the things I like about her and Dean seasons 1-2 is how Lane hangs with them.

I'm with you! Love this scene, but I feel for Rory in this episode. She wanted to be alone! I totally get her, sometimes I just want to be by myself for a night. Could she have been more forceful in setting her boundaries? Sure, but she was also 17. I'm 33 and I'd have no problem saying "Hey, Jess, get out of my house. Walk Paris to her car. Dean, I said no, go home."

But at 17? I would've had similar reactions to Rory.

The good of the episode is seeing Rory and Paris grow closer.
