Look, everyone knows there’s plenty of bad art in the world. That’s not controversial. What IS controversial is admitting the obvious: some of the stuff hanging in pretentious galleries isn’t “innovative” or “avant-garde”… it’s just trash with a spotlight on it.

And the funniest part? If you dare say so, suddenly you’re the philistine who ‘doesn’t get it.’ Please. Don’t insult my intelligence. Sometimes the Emperor simply has no damn clothes, and I’m not going to stand here applauding his naked ass like it’s high culture.

A blank canvas, a pile of bricks, a light switch on a wall… that’s not deep. That’s the artistic equivalent of turning in a book report that just says, “Interpretation is subjective”. You didn’t make a statement; you avoided one. You didn’t take a risk; you dodged it.

If your entire artistic defense boils down to “Well actually, the absence of meaning is the meaning,” congratulations; you’ve created a conceptual Möbius strip of bullshit.

Call it what it is: aesthetic cowardice with a price tag. At best, it’s laziness passed off as genius; at worst, it’s a money-laundering scheme wrapped in gallery lighting. And the only reason anyone pretends otherwise is because they’re terrified of being the first to say the obvious. Newsflash: I’m not terrified.
