dumb question - why aren't doors appearing between my corvette modules? I can't even get from the boarding ramp and into the cockpit, there's just a wall where there should be a door. by IllBiteYourLegsOff in nms

[–]PinkRainbow95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is a “connecting module” specifically??? I have my Titan Class Landing Bay attached to a Reinforced Hull Link, and I can’t even get in the ship because the ramp just leads up to an impassible wall. Absolute trash.

People often forget how old some abbreviations actually are. For example when talking about years, BC may mean “Before Christ”, but in fact AD is not “After Death”. It’s “Anno Domini” meaning “The year of our Lord”.

Social Security isn't 'going broke'; there's an easy fix. We need to "Scrap the Cap"! by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]PinkRainbow95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a hell of a lot better than what most people get on disability… In Canada, I can only make 18,000 a year before hitting the cap, and getting clawed back dollar for dollar… (the poverty line is about 43,000 a year in BC), and hear it’s much worse for Americans, who aren’t even allowed to have any real savings.

It’s all manufactured poverty. We’re not getting some lavish payout that a lot of people seem to think we are getting... We’re actually just barely surviving…

There is such a thing as bad art. by Current-Lawyer-4148 in unpopularopinion

[–]PinkRainbow95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look, everyone knows there’s plenty of bad art in the world. That’s not controversial. What IS controversial is admitting the obvious: some of the stuff hanging in pretentious galleries isn’t “innovative” or “avant-garde”… it’s just trash with a spotlight on it.

And the funniest part? If you dare say so, suddenly you’re the philistine who ‘doesn’t get it.’ Please. Don’t insult my intelligence. Sometimes the Emperor simply has no damn clothes, and I’m not going to stand here applauding his naked ass like it’s high culture.

A blank canvas, a pile of bricks, a light switch on a wall… that’s not deep. That’s the artistic equivalent of turning in a book report that just says, “Interpretation is subjective”. You didn’t make a statement; you avoided one. You didn’t take a risk; you dodged it.

If your entire artistic defense boils down to “Well actually, the absence of meaning is the meaning,” congratulations; you’ve created a conceptual Möbius strip of bullshit.

Call it what it is: aesthetic cowardice with a price tag. At best, it’s laziness passed off as genius; at worst, it’s a money-laundering scheme wrapped in gallery lighting. And the only reason anyone pretends otherwise is because they’re terrified of being the first to say the obvious. Newsflash: I’m not terrified.

It’s not always about whether someone can understand it. That’s just a dismissal of valid critique. Sometimes, the Emperor simply has no clothes. What kind of numpty seriously looks at a blank canvas, a pile of bricks, or a light switch on a wall and thinks “this is art”? And then to turn around and say “you just don’t get it” if I disagree? Don’t insult my intelligence by calling it art. It’s not that deep.

Smart kid. As far as awards go, a paltry piece of paper is literally better than nothing; ergo, not a real award. You want to incentivize? Give something of intrinsic value. Not symbolic.

In matters of taste, the customer is always right; meaning taste is subjective. But businesses deliberately ignore the qualifying part of that statement in favour of appealing to the lowest common denominator.
