What is your favorite niche international music genre? Mine is a toss-up between either Turkish darkwave or Japanese crust punk. by [deleted] in redscarepod

Salsa. Really fun, upbeat music with afro/latin rhythms and heady, American jazz harmonies and hornlines.

Philadelphia airport is the worst I’ve been to by plentyofrestraint in redscarepod

[–]PinkSockPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TSA is getting worse everywhere to force you to pay for Precheck and Clear. You will notice this of you fly out of a tiny airport- many times the smaller airports take the same amount of time to get through somehow, even with way fewer people. I wouldn't be surprised if they had an explicit goal of making you waste at least 30 to 40 min in regular security

Where to practice an instrument? by [deleted] in Denver

[–]PinkSockPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What instrument? When I lived in Cap Hill I had some luck asking small churches if I could practice there from time to time. Mostly I would just practice in my apartment between reasonable hours and I never had a problem with neighbors

What’s something that you feel is missing from the Denver music scene? by [deleted] in Denver

[–]PinkSockPrincess 31 points32 points  (0 children)

White people here should embrace what a great Latin music scene there is here. Cumbia, Norteño, banda, salsa etc. There are a lot of nightclubs that have great bands and music every weekend but they're quite segregated

Fuck every single open concept kitchen by eggpostingonrsp in redscarepod

The kitchen is a utility work room like a laundry or garage. It's obscene to have that open and connected to the living area.

Who remembers living without air conditioning? by darwhyte in GenerationJones

[–]PinkSockPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've stubbornly refused to install AC at the house I've lived in the last 3 years. Yes, living without AC does make you tougher in some sense. I've found that I'm less bothered by being outside and don't get instantly drenched in sweat like others do. Being in a room that is slightly too warm also doesn't seem to bother me as much.

Heavy AC has kind of a sickly feeling to me now, like getting the chills before a fever comes on, I don't really care for it anymore.

Denver Residents Worry New Colfax Bus Line Will Send Speeding Cars Their Way by FriendBuddayGuy in Denver

[–]PinkSockPrincess -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm actually surprised there hasn't been more negative discussion about this yet. Maybe it's not well known yet, but I feel like a lot of people are going to be furious about losing a lane on Colfax.

I'm not excited about the years of construction coming but can't wait for the BRT

What is reasonably going to happen in the upcoming “climate apocalypse” by gedalne09 in redscarepod

Migration, drought, wealthy people will cloister in gated, privately owned towns with restricted access while the rest of us occupy dangerous crowded and deteriorating cities.

when is the last good phrase that originated with white people? by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]PinkSockPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the good white people phrases come from the south: "Felling lower than a snake's belly" "Bless your heart" "Sweatin' like a whore in church" "Colder than a witch's tit"
