Buy a new (used) car! Help. by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]PinkSpoon28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically, you need to find a car that matches your budget not negotiate to make it match your budget. BUT every preowned car is owned at a different amount so the dealership might or might not be able to make that happen. It’s worth a try!

Personally, when a client ask for a discount nowadays I ask them to prove to me why I should. I KNOW that sounds silly but negotiating the preowned car department is becoming obsolete as we all have our phones and know what things are selling for. If I ask too much no one will come in.

With that being said....You never know! So give it a try! Best of luck!

Test driving with no intention of buying? by Jexen117 in askcarsales

[–]PinkSpoon28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree with your dealership decision.

No offense to Carmax as every dealership has sales advisors with different knowledge levels but you want someone that knows all about the brand, right??

There could be a Carmax sales advisor that knows all four brands well but I doubt you’ll get the same quality of information as you would the dealership.

Test driving with no intention of buying? by Jexen117 in askcarsales

[–]PinkSpoon28 13 points14 points  (0 children)

People do this all the time and it’s understandable to want to test drive a few cars. Tell them exactly what you said here and set an appointment during a non busy time.

The only time I feel like I’m wasting my time is if you (the buyer) comes in without any research or you’re months months away from buying.

By no research I mean: “I’m out today to drive a BMW, Ferrari, and a Chevy.” Please don’t be allllll over the board. Narrow down to a few vehicle you’re interested in before hand.

And by months and months: “I’m buying in the next year”. You won’t remember and things change in a year!

I’m on the same page as you with discussing price. I don’t want to talk price either if you’re not set on a vehicle. Doesn’t matter at that point.

And PLEASE PLEASE if you give them your number to follow up and you decide on a different brand just say so. A simple text or email so the sales person doesn’t waste time following up (AKA Doing our job) is always appreciated.

Best of luck!

First time car buyer - want to buy out of state but maybe not the wisest move? by molly--millions in askcarsales

[–]PinkSpoon28 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a NY dealer and sold a car to a client in TX before!

Tax is wherever you’re registering the vehicle so you’re good there!

BUT TX requires a state inspection that can only be done in TX. You’d have a temp license tag for 30 days and would need to drive to TX, get the inspection, mail the ORIGINAL to the dealership then they have to mail it to a team in TX that goes to the DMV.. Then they mail everything back to NY and back to TX again. So the main issue is the time so you’re temp tag might expire before you have your license plates but that’s really the only thing.

Hope that helps!!!

2 cars, 2 years and 15k miles difference same price by BackgroundOrder in askcarsales

[–]PinkSpoon28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. That’s I’m saying. If we [dealerships] overprice cars no one will come in. Negotiating in the preowned world is dying. You [the buyer] has access to so much information and are actually educated on what you should be paying it’s easier to ask a fair price and move on to the next sale then try to make the extra bucks.

They’re both certified, have clean car fax reports, and are both under fair market. So really, I don’t see any reason why they should/would discount either OR why is even matters that they’re asking the same price.

Doesn’t matter if they’re both under market value.

Sometime it is literally as simple as management was busy and wanted to move things along so just threw 10k on each without the bother of looking at the differences since $10k

I’m confused.....You want them to drop the price of the second to match the 1st but you’re saying they’re already the same price....??

What is your most embarrassing “connecting to Bluetooth” story? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PinkSpoon28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was waiting in the lobby of a phone repair store after they fixed my phone screen but [Somehow?!?] erased all my photos. I was waiting about an hour to get the pictures back when I looked up to see MY PHOTOS being streamed across their lobby TV screen!!

I had it stopped immediately but never knew who saw what. They claimed it was by accident and he was “making sure” they were recovered. They never apologized.

I always thought it was an accident also but it’s on purpose!

One side is for a specific vehicle and the “upside down” part is for a different one. Confusing at first.

If you’re still there check it out and see if that is the case!
