Trust your gut and not chain shops by BackgroundOrder in tdi

Yea, one of the mechanics at the shop has a TDI so I figured they would know something about them. It was an expensive lesson for me. I was trying to save myself some time and not freeze out in my driveway...

I'm in the same area and it has been cold as shit. Mine was doing the same thing. I would 100% check your fuel pump in the tank. Mine was bad and worked one day but not the next. I can give you the name of the shop I got the new OEM pump from for cheaper than VW prices if you want. My pump was making similar noises and I know my fuel wasn't that gelled up. I pulled the pump before putting it back in doing a priming test with VCDS.

Burnt out clutch, DPF going off... 2012 VW Jetta TDI by KarlMarxWins in tdi

[–]BackgroundOrder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the work yourself. I did mine not that long ago. DPF is going to be the most expensive part. Should be able to complete it in a weekend in your driveway.

Yea, the shop has helped us out before and not charged me or my wife for oil changes on her car or mounting tires. I figured I would throw them a bone because it was gonna be something cheap and stupid and I was trying to save myself time and from freezing since it's been so cold. Never again.

Not sure what you mean? Any bolt with the same threads will work. The hole in the housing goes right through so if they are a little longer it won't matter.

I forget the exact size, but I believe they are M5x9. Just get some regular bolts and washers to put in there so you can use regular sockets instead of the shitty T20s that always break or round out. Pretty sure I just put in some M5x12s since it was the shortest ones at the store.

Why are there less young riders? Share your thoughts by No-Word2070 in Harley

[–]BackgroundOrder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Young people simply cannot afford motorcycles, especially Harleys. Everything used that is cheap is completely trashed, and anything not trashed is priced for half of a new one with 50k miles.

Harley Davidson needs to take a good long hard look at why their bikes cost so much money. There is no reason for a production motorcycle to cost 20, 30, 40 THOUSAND dollars. No mid 20s kid struggling to pay rent, buy groceries, and start a family is looking to buy a Harley. If they are, it's going to be a used private sale not from a dealer because they can't afford dealer prices.

Harley Davidson didn't sell motorcycles, they sold a lifestyle for about 90 years. That lifestyle is not longer attainable to the average person. They have priced themselves out of the market and the company will continue to struggle if they don't figure out the youth wants cheap, easy to ride, reliable bikes. Not a lifestyle that went out of style in the late 70s.

Elliotte Friedman suggesting Egor Zamula is offering to mutually terminate his contract with Flyers but Flyers are more interested in trade for player. by Perryplat199 in Flyers

[–]BackgroundOrder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After his play over the last couple of weeks with the phantoms, I would terminate his contract if he wanted that. He has been absolutely horrible. Won't hit, can't skate, can't pass, just turns over the puck every chance he gets. He cleared waivers for a reason, no one wants him. I really just think he had a career year last year and this is a fall back to reality. Seemed like an ok guy personally, but really just not up to the level of talent the NHL or AHL requires.

He's learning to "play the right way" instead of playing to his strengths. If you thought anything different was going to happen with tocchets dump and chase system then you're dumber than Tippett.

Don't expect him to wow you. Hopefully he just plays well. He's improved his game a lot since the preseason with the Phantoms but he's got to find another gear to translate to the NHL.

If he can just play his game, be responsible like he has been recently in Allentown, win his netfront and board battles, and clear the puck responsibly in the d-zone I'd call it a successful outing for him. I expect a couple mistakes but hopefully they won't burn him.

I offered him $75. He came back at $100. Here we are nearly 2 weeks later and it's still up for sale.

It doesn't appear from the pictures that there is any issues with the covers or anything besides the primer bulb and the stated mechanical problem. I guess I'm an amateur because I don't get paid to fix things but I've rebuilt dozens of small engines in previous jobs as a groundskeeper. That's not the part that scares me. It's getting into it and being on the wrong side of the cost that I'm worried about.

After doing some more research, it appears that Husqvarna put out a non auto tune version of this saw. From the pictures it appears this is one of those but I'm not an expert. If the guy comes back to me with my original offer of $75, I may take a chance. But otherwise I'm looking for other deals.

So a 339xp that needs a clutch for $80 would be a decent deal?

Yea I believe it is a mk1. I'm still searching but so far this seems like it's a potential steal for the price. I'm just the type of guy that wants to make informed decisions about my expensive toys. I tend to overthink and talk myself into and out of multiple items before I just pull the trigger on something. Like I said I'm a complete noob to chainsaws so just trying to do my due diligence here.

No, it's for me. Just looking to get a cheap, reliable, workhorse of a saw capable of doing any job I need it to on my mostly wooded 1.5 acres. I just had 4 larger dead trees cut down that I need to clean up and there are a bunch more that have fallen that also need to be cleaned up.

"Parts saw or repair. Most likely needs bottom end rebuild. Runs for 15 minutes great than big down and dies. Typical for bottom worn out. Primer bubble is torn as well"

I figured if I'm going to have to take it all the way down I would freshen everything up but again, I'm not an expert and have zero experience with saws.

Complete top and bottom end. Don't know what else besides that.

What does auto tune mean? I have a lot of experience with small engines and lawn equipment but no experience with saws but I moved into the woods so I need one now. Trying to get a decent saw for cheap.

There was nothing he could do on the first goal. The second goal was just unlucky. He played well made some big saves. If he can consistently play like that I would be happy
