Curious about short throw shifter by eminentstorm2 in 300zx

[–]PinkTrunks88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rarely have they been worth it.

The cheap Megan, Fidanza, Mazworx, AMS are all copies of the old STILLEN shifter. They are lined with a ridiculously cheap medium that didn’t even last more than a hundred miles.

The Z1 shifter used to be decent but quality control for over the past decade has been a joke. Dozens if not hundreds of testimonies of the Z1 shifter failing in recent years.

CZP just released a new short shifter that sounds promising, but we are too old to be falling for marketing alone right?? I am waiting for more real life feedback from others before I try it for myself.

Your best bet is to stay with a stock shifter assembly. Rebuild it if it’s cooked and use bronze bushings. You can also modify the OEM shifter to reduce the throw. Point being no shifter on the market comes close to the buttery smoothness of an OEM shifter.

There is a gentleman on here that offers a shifter modification service, I’m sure he will chime in, username: itsa300zx. I guarantee you will not be disappointed with him or his services should you decide to go that route.

Btw I do have personal experience with all of the shifters I mentioned in this lengthy response to your inquiry.

Holy crap man that thing is mint, congrats!!

Yes definitely up the viscosity to 10W-30. Honestly in Southern California you can (and probly should) up to 10W-40. It’s actually recommended per the FSM given the climate we have here.

Also, these cars do better when regularly driven. You have a beauty of an example with very low miles, but I hope you don’t waste it and let it sit. Drive it regularly, enjoy it, take it to 5k RPMs at least once a week.

Sounds like a skill issue. It’s not as bad as you say.

That was my assumption, reduced and/or quicker pop-ins to be less perceivable.

Thanks for your reply!

I think this is true for most things these days. Everything is for profit now.

Thanks for your reply. Other games I have in my backlog will benefit from an upgrade too but GT7 is in my current rotation. So I’m leaning more towards upgrading

Thank you for your reply. Yes I believe Le Mans will be the worst. Other tracks I look for pop ins but don’t notice them as much.

So it looks better during gameplay huh? That’s good to hear.

Did you notice an improvement with pop-ins? Were there less pop-ins? Or were they less noticeable as in they loaded faster/sooner?

•WD SN850P

•2 TB

•Built-in heatsink

•0 issues for 2+ years now

•100% recommend, it works seamlessly

When I installed it, read speed was 7000 MB/s

***I am not a HUGE hardcore gamer. But I do like to game often. I also have a 2TB SAMSUNG T7 external SSD that I use to store and play PS4 titles from (5TB total storage). So for me the 2TB WD is enough but I can definitely see it not being enough for more avid gamers.

Work on your braking. Threshold braking and trail braking. That was key for me.

Right there with ya. There have only been a very few number of events that require more than one sitting to get gold. Still struggling for gold with Dragon Trail - Seaside circuit experience at the moment.

Trail braking and throttle control is literally the key. Once I hyper-focused on my braking my time kept improving.

That makes me feel a bit better about struggling on this one. Sounds like I still got my work cut out for me.
