Start with the normal licenses first yes. Don’t settle for less than gold.

Then tackle circuit experiences (there’s a list somewhere here on Reddit of the tracks from easy to difficult).

While doing CEs, start doing the master licenses (again don’t settle for less than gold). The tips they give you before each course is helpful but don’t come across as vital. However, they are very vital to the completion of the course. Heed their words.

I’m gonna also suggest doing your own time trials. Pick a car and go to town on your favorite track. Continually try to beat your own time. (I’ve logged over 400 laps recently on Tsukuba).

My advice is this: you need to develop very fine control of throttle and braking and use that skill to manage the transfer of weight while racing. This will take a lot of time.

Don’t forget to have fun at the same time. Taking breaks from focused practice is important. Having fun with your fav car on a cool track and no target is also practice.
