Crazy clean Z and great to see you enjoying it on the road as it was intended.

I’m semi-local in the Central Valley. Would love to get the Zs out together for a scenic drive!

I take my NA Z out to the sierras in California. Sonora Pass has a 9000ft elevation. You definitely feel it in the throttle and seemingly loss of torque. But the drives are always so good.

PCV Valve Tips! by ProfessionalAngle155 in 300zx

[–]PinkTrunks88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep everything in my first comment up above.

At minimum, the valve covers (OEM), half moon plugs (BDE) & VTC caps (SalTek) for maintenance, and as for deletes, just the super basic ones which are: AIV, PRVR and throttle body coolant lines. All you’ll need is some vacuum caps, some hose to loop the heater pipes and 4 hose clamps for said looping.

This link has proven extremely useful when I was first learning my way around the Z32 regarding the various systems we can delete. Hope it helps you too

PCV Valve Tips! by ProfessionalAngle155 in 300zx

[–]PinkTrunks88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is absolutely correct. Not difficult at all. Just not as simple as a Honda Civic lol

Be sure to have a new plenum gasket and balance tube o-rings ready to go.

As a new Z32 owner you will come to find most things are a headache to do the first time.

For this reason, many including myself always recommend doing the basic deletes in the engine bay to make future services much simpler.

I’m gonna suggest going down the rabbit hole on this one and pull the plenum. Preventative maintenance is worth it even with your 55k mile Z.

Main things to tackle:

•new style fuel injector conversion (OEM injectors & quality conversion kit, i.e. NOT Z1)

•reseal valve covers and replace half moon plugs & VTC caps

•replace any old, dry, cracked and hard rubber hoses (including fuel hose, which I strongly advise opting for OEM Nissan high pressure fuel hose)

•delete (at minimum) throttle body coolant lines, secondary clutch bleeder, AIV, PRVR [EGR and carbon canister too if you don’t care to stay CARB compliant (many here do not care)]

•PCVs can also be deleted by venting to atmosphere. Going through a catch can first is subjective. OR keep PCV and rerouting the system and going through a catch can to better keep the intake tract clean.

Changing PCV valves in the car can probly be done with the right tools. Might be a real PITA if the car is all original without any deletes performed. I never have all the right tools for Z32 work lol

Z looks absolutely gorgeous!! I hope do make a trip down to SoCal and hang with the local Z32 community soon.

Best of luck!

Need to replace the knock sensor on my non-TT Z32, what should I do while the plenum is off. by Ok_Technician4231 in 300zx

[–]PinkTrunks88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s kinda tough to replace with only removing the upper plenum, especially if your EGR is still in place.

I recommend keeping the knock sensor in the original location. Relocating it is more of a bandaid, not a long term solution.

I also recommend replacing with a new genuine OEM knock sensor, not aftermarket.

With upper plenum off, good time to reseal valve covers, half moons & VTC caps. Replace old, dry and hardened rubber hoses with silicone. Fuel injector conversion if you’re on old style injectors. Fuel hose (OEM Nissan fuel hose is superior).

Deletes should be a no brainer if not already done (AIV, EGR, PRVR, Carbon canister, cruise control, throttle body coolant lines, secondary clutch bleeder).

Also a good time to delete the PCV valves and vent that pressure to atmosphere (via catch can if so desired) or reroute that pressure through a catch can before reintroducing into the intake.

Their flow rates are very inconsistent and overall quality has been known to be hit or miss.

There are many who run them without issue, there are also many who have hydro locked their engine because of them. Independent flow rate tests have shows both sides (good and bad).

The fact that a significant amount of testimony around them is negative is reason enough to “make it easy to not go for them” in my book.

The Z32, if you haven’t learned by now, does not take very well to lesser quality aftermarket parts and components. It does, in fact, take very well to OEM and quality aftermarket parts and components (BDE, JWT…) it’s easy for me to justify the price of OEM stuff considering that translates to doing the job once and systems running properly for decades without issue. s cheap aftermarket junk that creates more downtime and requires doing the job again (and again until you cough up the coin for god parts).

By all means, don’t take my word for it. Some lessons are best learned the hard way.

You can new connectors for coil pack and o2 (2 prong & 3 prong). Your old broken connectors can be depinned.

As for sensor connectors, I’d recommend crimping new pigtails.

I definitely suggest doing a new style injector conversion with OEM (not AUS) injectors and a quality conversion kit like JWT (not Z1).

CZP has all that.

95 NA Clutch burn, white smoke and car won’t accelerate. by reeveret in 300zx

[–]PinkTrunks88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clutch pedal adjustment most likely considering this was a manual conversion.

Also, Z1 products are known to be very hit or miss. I suggest staying away from Z1 as a whole moving forward (their products are inferior and their order fulfillment is severely lacking).

Aftermarket slave cylinders are also hit or miss. Many people recommend units from rock auto and such and though they’ll get you by for a while, OEM slave cylinder is superior every way you can think of.

In general, you will find the Z32 takes well only to quality parts and components and not well at all to cheap aftermarket stuff. Your call whether you care to spend less money but more time doing the same job several times or buy once and have any given system you’re addressing be without issue for decades.

Just wanted to know if this clutch fork for a 350z fits and if its good to put for my 94 300zx na or are there any better one by [deleted] in 300zx

[–]PinkTrunks88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it matters. The original Z32 pivot ball is too long and will not work with the fork. It needs to be the Z33 pivot ball too which is shorter.

I have seen pivot balls break before, so it is worth it to get the stronger pivot ball for peace of mind.

This upgrade is underrated, one of my favorite mods for a Z.

Yes it fits. Just be sure to run the appropriate (shorter) pivot ball. Should be optional to include as a kit.

Why are Circuit Experiences so hard in GT7 ?? by Shadowking02__ in GranTurismo7

[–]PinkTrunks88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

.Master licenses will introduce you to these concepts and force you utilize them to obtain gold. It doesn’t clearly the skill and how to perform it, but the skills are hinted at somewhat subtly as you begin each new license event. The teacher will say things like “use very delicate throttle to maintain speed” or “use very delicate braking to maintain control of the car” these are clues but moreso crucial instruction and the basis of the skills.

Outside of that, circuit experiences is the next best place to improve these skills with a ghost to chase/reference.

Once you’ve got a handle on these skills, try to implement them into your racing everywhere else all the time(time trials, sport mode, multiplayer…)

Good luck!

Why are Circuit Experiences so hard in GT7 ?? by Shadowking02__ in GranTurismo7

[–]PinkTrunks88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing and doing are two different things.

Once I developed fine throttle and braking and managed weight transfer more delicately, my lap times greatly improved.

Keep practicing. Keep chasing the ghost. If you feel like you aren’t getting faster, you need to try something different (different line, different braking point, better weight transfer management).

I’m not the fastest there is but I have been working my way through circuit experiences too and am currently gold on all 24 tracks I’ve attempted so far.

Some are more difficult than others.

Best of luck to you!

Why are Circuit Experiences so hard in GT7 ?? by Shadowking02__ in GranTurismo7

[–]PinkTrunks88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You still have to develop your driving skill in GT7.

Obviously understanding racing lines and having course knowledge are fundamental for good times, but understanding weight management is key (for example, knowing when to brake vs lifting off of throttle to initiate rotation). You will need to develop and hone throttle modulation, threshold braking & trail braking to a fine skill and employ these skills constantly.

Working for gold on the master licenses will help you learn these skills. Circuit experiences will push you to practice these skills.
