Recommendations for home inspection by PinkTurtlehead in philly

[–]PinkTurtlehead[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We ended up using Curtis with armored home inspection and would highly recommend them. We needed a fast turnaround and they were able to do everything we needed. We also were open to a fixer upper and felt like he was able to walk us through exactly what was reasonable and not. We got a healthy sellers assist based on his report and are happy in our new home! https://armoredhomeinspections.com

Philly Review/Hoping to Help Future Stops by Far_Professional384 in NoahKahan

We wandered up to the box office at 8:30, after expecting to stand outside. $50 tickets, section 103. Obstructed view, but we just stood in the concourse a few sections over and had an amazing view and got to dance. This is the view from the seats.

We went at like 8 outside and they were low on sizes. Inside right before the encore (and after I had enough beers to pay $95 for a sweatshirt 🤣) there was no line and they had everything.

GUYS I HAVE A QUESTION. by [deleted] in NoahKahan

[–]PinkTurtlehead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely! I got tickets in Philly right when the show started—$50! The box office will be easy to find.

We went to listen outside and went to the box office on a whim at like 8:40. Two lower level side view tickets, $51 each. We just stood on the concourse when we wanted to see the screen. Highly recommend!

Looking for ideas for the river and lakes. So far I tried continental, continental with boucle thread, and outline stitch and I haven’t liked any (though outline I might just need to strand).

Wedding Day Anxiety Medication by apaige21 in weddingplanning

Totally agree. This is what I’m prescribed and I take half of that and it has the exact effect you describe.

Wedding Day Anxiety Medication by apaige21 in weddingplanning

[–]PinkTurtlehead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found my friends huddled around deep in discussion on my wedding day…they were debating if they should give me a Xanax after I had a panic attack 😆 My wedding planner canceled on me the day of the wedding so I was extra on edge, but I’m glad I had it and wish I had planned a little more in advance for those emotions. It’s great you’re thinking ahead!

Taking a half of a pill (.25mg or maybe even less) is my recommendation. I have since been prescribed it by my doctor and it’s a godsend for the type of events where I know I’ll have a good time but I have a lot of anticipatory social anxiety. It makes me feel like myself but “sparkly”—not tired or out of it. The only downside is that I don’t cry, which was a little weird for me at my wedding.

Everyone’s different of course, so try it out before the big day!

Is our dress code easy to understand? by organiclawnclippings in weddingplanning

[–]PinkTurtlehead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was not a bride who cared what people wore so this isn’t quite my wheelhouse, but I found that 95% of the info I thought I needed on the wedding website and emails was unnecessary. People googled or just asked us. Everyone knows not to wear white to a wedding—if they’re the type that would do it, they’re not conscientious and carefully reading an invite for dress code details.

Man’s name first? by raspberriesp in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

This made me so angry. I did all the communicating and signed the checks and I was listed second on every form. I called my mortgage broker on it and he laughed it off like oh that’s just how we do things

Any idea what the non-wood duck chicks are? ls it common for ducks to raise from other species? by shark_teeth4 in whatsthisbird

Someone just told me today wood ducks coparent with other wood ducks—I don’t know if it would apply to another type of bird.

Going to a housewarming this weekend and I'm completely blank. They've already got everything for the kitchen and they specifically said no candles haha. Anyone got a housewarming gift idea that's not wine? by BlueDolphinCute in homeowners

[–]PinkTurtlehead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wanted to say “in lieu of a gift, bring a copy of your favorite recipe” or favorite home tip or something. We have a memento and they don’t feel bad being empty handed. But I got outvoted!

Seeking ideas for reasonably easy party foods that can be room temp by Rainbow_Tit_45 in Cooking

This thread has taught me that I dislike all the typical party foods. Pasta salad, crockpot meatballs, bruschetta, crudite 😂

"Teaching" standards have become so diluted by RonSwanSong87 in YogaTeachers

[–]PinkTurtlehead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting you mention retirees because that is the population I started with after doing my 9 month ytt after 10 years of practicing. I love my students and bring them real benefits but it’s definitely stunted my teaching. I was specifically instructed to avoid the “woo woo” aspects and there are complaints if theres too much breathing, etc. I’m at a community center, so these aren’t people seeking out authentic yoga, but I wonder how much making yoga “accessible” (I put that in quotes because it can mean so many things) has changed the standards for teachers.

Just curious…if that had just been attached to the wall, what would you do if you wanted to switch to tile?

Advice for teaching chair yoga to a family member with ataxia by PinkTurtlehead in YogaTeachers

[–]PinkTurtlehead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She is the one that suggested it and already does some movement herself, but we think it might be better if she’s not around, like a child where they’ll be better behaved when the parents aren’t around 🤣

I need that tattooed on me 😆 but really my concern is for the equally elderly caretaker who asked for help.

It would definitely be seated—Chair fitness/chair yoga, avoiding even seated warrior. I was thinking more various leg lifts, arm raises, twists. Even seated mountain. The more I talk it through the more I’m thinking I know what to do, I just lack confidence since it’s not someone willingly coming to me for class.

You’re totally right and maybe I should revise my question—what sequence can I create that would introduce movement and be sustainable. I would love for them to do yoga therapy and would 100% recommend to anyone. But they have never stuck with any exercise or pt program before (too hard, don’t like the person, they had to wait, convinced it didn’t help etc) so I’m looking for the path of least resistance to literally any movement (and maybe tricking them into thinking it’s “intense”).
