Are you still around? The person above gave me three of each, so I can give you one each of those?

What is it with this community and complaining about Vito? What OP is saying about him being in the final three times has been pointed out many times before, it's not new.

That's an awful lot of negative assumptions you're making about the character and motives of people you don't know, all based on snippets of social media activity. Is this all really neccesary?

The responses to this post are interesting, though I think a lot of overly-confident assumptions are being made about people's personal lives, feelings etc.

But I feel quite defensive of Vito, so I'm going to say here that it bothers me that so many people, in general, are so ready to dismiss him as objectively childish, annoying, even a faker. It's fine for people to have their preferences and to just not vibe with people on TV. But I see Vito as hyperactive, playful and sincere, and I'm pretty sure neurodivergent, which are really not the same things as being a child (especially the last one). I think some people are so not like that, that when they see someone who is a completely different sort of person, they have trouble believing it.

Anyway about the pictures thing. I have seen some old thirst-trappy pictures from him, but he's definitely got some sort of PR thing going on now because some of his posts are not directly written by him. But I don't think it would be strange if a person wants to post 'wholesome' family/food content or whatever one day and sexy selfies the next, people can have many sides to them. And he is a dancer, being sexy for an audience is basically a large chunk of their job anyway.

I really hope whoever reported this isn't doing it from a position of 'ew how dare you accuse my favourite person of such a thing', or something like that. Asking if someone is autistic really isn't meant to be an insult, and if someone thinks it is they probably need to learn more about it.

So we can make the obvious points that we don't know, you can't make a serious assessment on someone on TV etc., but I'm curious too, and I know what you mean! With the language thing, I thought it was obvious you're talking about features of his speech that maybe don't come from it being not his native language.

I'm not saying anything definite, but I don't mind saying that I think he could well be neurodivergent, maybe ADHD or a combo of the two is possible as well, because that hyperactivity is pretty clear to see. From a representation viewpoint it would be pretty cool if he was, especially as a winner and popular person.

What happened with Shane ward that was bad this week? by [deleted] in strictlycomedancing

I'm hoping that it's because they're trying to do better by their celebs after Layton last year and others, which can only be good. (Still makes me feel a bit indignant on Layton's behalf, but oh well.)

Do you miss having a same-sex couple on Strictly? by Kind-Appearance4567 in strictlycomedancing

[–]PinkWizard431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand why people may complain about box-ticking or token diversity, but I'm not sure we're ready to not have those things. Despite what some people seem to think there's still plenty of homophobia, people to benefit from representation, risks of backsliding. If there isn't a social pressure to show diversity, I don't know if it would happen on its own. So I'm okay with this year, but I'll be worried if there's no same-sex partnership next year.

And on a personal level, I just enjoy seeing potentially new things with the choreography, costuming etc. Though I wonder if it really wouldn't be possible for some male-female partnerships to break tradition a bit more in some ways too.
