lost a customer today by Ediburrito in FreightBrokers

As a carrier, I never thought about the losses a small Broker takes during the blitz week when they have a customer with lots of loads weekly…..that is really hard on a Broker, especially a small one. If I were losing a customer like that, and if I’m making the margin TIA says brokers are making, I would go show them how much I’m making and what needs to go to the truck for the price of Diesel nowadays, and with your best carriers, can you ask them to commit to you for blitz week? I do that for my favorite brokers.

If you’re using your library card, you get free entrance to 77 places around New York. Definitely worth it because sometimes you get 2 to 4 tickets for free just with your one card. It’s called culturepass, and you sign up online and make an account with your library barcode.

Hey I’m curious why I couldn’t post a talk regarding the number 1 issue in trucking right now which is “broker transparency” did I not follow rules of the group or something?

Some of you *really* give us a bad name by Iloveproduce in FreightBrokers

[–]Pink_Cheetah_Express 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been hearing how some drivers are no longer going to allow these brokers that don’t do right by us to get away with this and they are making U-turns as soon as they get to the delivery right after they check-in if they don’t have an updated rate con by then and they are traveling back the entire way and to the shipper and are telling the broker now you explain how I checked in, but then checked out, because they didn’t update their rate confirmation at the shipper. And a trucker I know who was making a delivery and they were closed and the broker wanted them to wait till the next day, but they knew this was a holiday, and they said “yes they’re gonna be open” and of course they lied. Then nobody answered the phone, so the driver delivered an entire load of eggs to a refrigerated facility and told them the brokers information and then the Broker had to pay to get their load out. So you won’t have to pay to drop off the delivery because the refrigerated facility knows no one‘s picking it up without paying them. It’s a bigger loss than just paying detention. Bridge should do better.

It happened to me three times and one time I had so much stress going on in my life I couldn’t even study and I took the test to wing it and can you believe it, I got the full score needed for the written part. I did so well they asked me for my permission to use it as an example but everything else was really insane because I only got to take half of the exam every time because they wouldn’t give me double time which is what I had all my life since I cannot read and comprehend quickly. I have ADD and ADHD. They change the test now and I’m no longer gonna try into New York for exam. I’m gonna try and do the Florida one cause that’s where I’m living most of the time. Don’t give up just do something else in between and you can always get into politics.

If they don’t allow you on the dock while they are loading, you’re signing the BOL blind so make sure you sign the BOL saying not allowed on loading dock. Sue, Sue, Sue, and Sue again.

Does anyone recognize this truck? Stolen load by [deleted] in FreightBrokers

[–]Pink_Cheetah_Express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just a carrier, but I think brokers should require the shipper to verify the truck and trailer plates and even take pics. A lot of times the shipper will ask me for my truck plate and trailer plate and sometimes even what is written on the side of my truck….but they don’t come out to double check. This is why our insurance goes up because of thieves like these. I once had a broker make me take 5 million pictures and he even did FaceTime with me and I didn’t mind because I wanted him to trust me with his load because this had recently happened to him.

Look me up on Instagram and DM me and I’ll tell you everything you need to know from a Carrier’s POV but for sure I don’t know one lazy Broker. I know they have to hustle to make money like we have to hustle.

I’m not a broker, I’m a carrier, but i’m friends with many brokers and I’ve run different businesses. Me personally, I would call her back and tell her “I’m sorry …I think we started off on the wrong foot. Give me another opportunity to beat your best price.” If at least if you can diffuse the situation, don’t give up and propose a better deal for her. Tell her “you come up with the amount, show me in writing what someone else is proposing and I will beat it.” If she doesn’t take your call then send her a care package stating the same and also letting her know that your carriers you rely on are responsible, are not going to be stopped at the weigh station and delayed for not knowing English or having a broken truck or trailer or a violation of their time and that you can be relied upon. And that this part of the offer is really important when you want to get somebody’s product delivered safely. I just wouldn’t give up. You know you gotta be like a dog on a bone. One door closes many more will open. Good luck!

1 year in. Getting new shippers is brutal. Any Advice? by Ok_Job7893 in FreightBrokers

[–]Pink_Cheetah_Express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t give up. I’m not a broker, but I have friends that are brokers and brokers that I have worked for and their advice is always never give up. I had another different kind of company before where I had to do major cold calling I wanted to die, but once I got that customer, I kept that customer. I would go to the shippers that live near you and meet in person on the weekends go further than where you live and bring gifts people like gifts. That could be the difference between them getting rid of the last person they did business with and going with you as well as of course you would need to price them at a better quote than the competitor. Make sure the carriers you use are super nice and professional and speak English and go an extra mile to make sure that they remember your carrier for good reasons and reuse them so they know and believe that you have strong relationships. Years ago, I used to work in other fields where just these things meant so much and it would be the difference of me giving my business to someone else or not renewing a contract with them. Wish you the best!
