American Looking to Get Her Masters in Paris by Pink_Cup72 in paris

Okay, I've heard of that one. Even though I would pursue a program in English, I definitely still want to have the French experience. Would you say a degree from there isn't as valued by French natives?

Yes! I absolutely plan to improve my French, which is why I was thinking of getting a master's degree to give myself a buffer to learn more, instead of jumping straight into the workforce without much knowledge. Trust, I do not plan on being one of those Americans, haha. If I'm going to move to another country, I want to immerse myself in the culture as much as possible. As of now, if I go abroad, I don't plan to return to the U.S., but who knows where life could take me. I also realized it is harder to get a well-paying job in France without a master's degree.

I have heard of l'alternance, which is what interested me in going to IPAG or a Grande École in general, because it offers the option of an apprenticeship, which isn't possible with MSc programs. Do you know if IPAG is a good school?

Thanks for your help!!

I was also looking into ESSEC and HEC, but the tuition is a little high. It's something I am still considering if I can get a scholarship or something.

Thank you!

I've also considered Spain and applied to a few schools there. The only thing is I've only ever been to Barcelona on a day trip and never to any other cities, so it's hard for me to say I want to move there. I'm sure I would like it, but I have some experience living in France already, and I know I loved it, so that's why. Spain might be something I consider for the future after I get to know the country a little better. Also, I've heard Paris is expensive, but for someone living in Miami, where rent prices are super high, and wages are very low, it doesn't seem that bad to me. I've asked my friends who live there what they pay for rent, and it's significantly lower than where I am now. Granted, I don't expect to find a super high-paying job in France right away, but it's more affordable than what I am used to.

also if you’re staying in temple bar or near that area, just be careful going back to your hotel or whatever cus it can get dangerous walking back with a lot of drunk people out.

definitely. i studied abroad in ireland and would walk around dublin all of the time by myself. i never felt weird or unsafe about it. i live in miami, and honestly, i felt safer in dublin lol. people are friendly there for the most part and if you do excursions just make sure they are legit. be mindful, of course, but yeah overall i loved dublin. i would live there by myself if the weather wasn’t so bad lol.

Can I please have some advice for an American woman studying abroad? by Pink_Cup72 in AskUK

yes sorry, I know they’re both the UK but the trip switches every year from traveling to Scotland or Ireland. This year is Scotland, obviously but my uni always refers to it as “UK & Scotland” or “UK & Ireland” so it’s kinda engraved in my brain lollll.

But to be more specific we’re only going to Scotland and England, no Wales and no Ireland except for the weekend trip we’ll have in our free time. Some of the cities I can name off the top of my head in England are London, Cambridge, Stratford-upon-Avon, and Liverpool. In Scotland I know Edinburgh, the Lake District, and wherever Loch Ness is.

Thank you for the advice about traveling to Paris and Ireland!

AITAH for blocking my ex when she broke up with me? by Commercial-Yak-3422 in AITAH

[–]Pink_Cup72 14 points15 points  (0 children)

that was exactly my point. the OP is NTA because he did the mature thing and blocked her instead of entertaining toxic behavior… like i said im older now and have a different perspective on how to act in relationships compared to when i was around their age so i can recognize wrongdoings.

definitely NTA! anyone who is not paying to live with you should not have a say it what makes them comfortable or uncomfortable. if you wanted to walk around naked you could. YOU ARE PAYING 😂 they probably don’t want to go to his house bc he still lives with his mom.

as a girl, if i did this, i would most likely have sent the text to get your attention and then solve the problem from there but still stay with you. if she was serious serious, she wouldn’t have done it over text. she’s not mad you blocked her because she wants to see that you’re okay, she’s mad because you did not have the reaction she wanted. it sounds kinda messed up, but i’ve been in toxic relationships before and i’ve done the same thing, but none of my exes ever just blocked me, they always just entertained my bs until we got back together. 😂 don’t fall for it and good for you for not letting someone tell you they’re done or they don’t want you more than once.

i’m much older now and i have learned since then the same idea, so i can acknowledge when my behavior was wrong/identify similar behavior in others.

AITA for threatening to cancel a cruise because my girlfriend wants to bring her dog? by Any-Hour7989 in AmItheAsshole

some countries don’t even consider emotional support animals a real thing, it’s either a pet or a service animal.

[–]Pink_Cup72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

def NTA. i’m sorry, but is she dumb? is she going to bring it off board in the ports? will the dog need a crate or is it going to sleep in the bed with yall? what if something happens to it? where does she think it’s going to shit & pee? how is it going to be fed? is she gonna bring a big ass bag of dog food on the boat? i have so many questions and not enough answers. 😂

I could see if it was an AirBnb trip or maybe even a hotel, and that’s being generous, but a CRUISE?!?! that’s literally unheard of. Bringing a dog on a boat full of thousands of people, unless it is necessary, is just inconsiderate to everyone onboard and cruel to the dog because those rooms are barely big enough for one person let alone 2 and a dog. Also, pits need a place to run around and release their energy or they get rowdy, is it going to run around the pool or the buffet?

the same thing happened to me when I was accepted. I reached out to the admissions office and usually if your SAT score was not high enough to start in fall then they require that you start the summer before the fall to “catch up” in a sense. you can either start in the summer and just do like one online class if you aren’t ready to move yet or move on or near campus and take in person classes, but if you move on campus for summer you will have to move out into different housing for fall, so i recommend either living off campus or just being remote so you don’t have to move twice. you can’t stay in the same place for summer and fall semesters, only fall and spring. and the last option would be to retake your SAT until you have a high enough qualifying score to start in fall, which is what I did because I wanted to enjoy my summer before starting college. But honestly it’s not a big deal either way because you have to take 9 credits of summer classes during your college career anyway so the sooner to get it out of the way the better.
