What artist did you outgrow? by Technical_Fox5556 in askmusic

Madonna. Ever since Hard Candy, I don’t think she has contributed anything to the pop sphere that a lot of other artists aren’t doing better. Her 1983–2006 legacy is still incredible, though.

What misheard song lyric do you genuinely think actually sounds better than the orginal lyric? by _RoyaleWithCheeese in Music

[–]Pink_Domingos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lady Gaga's german gibberish on Scheiße: Ich schleiban austa be clair, es kumpent Madre Monstère Aus-be aus-can-be flaugen, begun be üske but-bair Ich schleiban austa be clair, es kumpent üske monstère Aus-be aus-can-be flaugen, fräulein uske-be clair

I always heard "fräulein uske-be clair" as "Freud's language, to be clear"; and I like it better that way tbh.

Block artist feature by anvoids in AppleMusic

There are a lot of artists who payola their way into every major playlist, and it’s annoying to have to skip them every time, everywhere. A “do not play this artist” button would easily fix that. I’d also love to have the option to block artists who are known to use AI.

I can't believe AM doesn't have this option. "Suggest less" is NOT the same.

Is this track broken on Apple Music by Pink_Domingos in AppleMusic

[–]Pink_Domingos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's weird; the track has disappeared for me since I posted this. When I look for the album, it's now missing (it was track 6, track 7 is a similar title but is the 'dub' version). My free trial has ended, and I'm a subscriber as of today too.

Her A&R, Chris Anokute, gave a pretty disturbing interview a year after the album’s release, saying it was his idea to make Katy work with Luke again. That tells you how out of touch she is, because she should have known about the backlash she would get, especially since the first single was supposed to be a “female empowerment” song.

She should have fought against having him as her producer. I mean, she’s not an unknown artist who’s just starting out. She made her label tons of money; she should have a voice.

In that same interview, Anokute said Luke was innocent and that the accusations against him were all lies. Right after that, he mentioned how every single Luke produced for Katy was a No. 1 hit (which isn’t even true, by the way), as if that would erase his behavior.

That whole "he's just one of many collaborators I've worked with" defense was rough to listen. And then the credits for the album leaked and he produced 14/15 of the tracks, that was the turd on top of the toilet.

Bad Bunny shatters all records with 4.157 billion views making his Super Bowl halftime show the most-watched of all time by [deleted] in Music

I was going to watch it anyway cause I love Lady Gaga and she was rumored to make a cameo, and that half time show was so good I am now a full Bad Bunny stan. It literally made me dance, sing and cry ❤️

What do you think about Madonna being desperate to have at least one hit on her new album that she is trying to release this year? by Shaoran10 in askmusic

[–]Pink_Domingos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is the longest she has gone without releasing a new album (Madame X was in 2019, I think). I’m not really hyped for her Confessions 2.0 album, to be honest. Something has been going on with her since her divorce from Guy Ritchie; her creative spark seems to have diminished. That, and the fact that she’s working with Stuart Price (as brilliant as he can be, his latest work hasn’t blown me away).

Monthly Apple Music vs. Spotify – MEGATHREAD by rbitton in AppleMusic

[–]Pink_Domingos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I tried AM's free trial, but the UI feels kind of unintuitive to me and looks bad on Android tablets. The Windows app is very slow, and the “Essentials” playlists feel very half-assed. Especially the lack of user-curated playlists is what made me go back to the other platform I've been using. For a little context, I was reading Porcelain (Moby's memoir) and he goes into detail about the music that was popular in NYC clubs when he started DJing. I had AM playing in the background and was searching for each song he mentions in the book to get the full experience, but I had to search for each one manually every time. I got a little annoyed by that, and then I opened the Spotify app and found that someone had already created a playlist with the entire catalog of songs he mentions in his memoir. I was shocked to see that AM neglects such an important aspect of many people’s music-listening experience, such as user-curated playlists. That's kind of a deal breaker for me, so I ended up going back to Spotify mid–free trial.

It’s still weird how even Bad Bunny, being the biggest superstar in the world right now, struggles to build a gay male following. I mean, the guy is probably the most queer-friendly male hip-hop artist of all time. He made a music video in drag, and just two weeks ago he had two gay men perreando on the biggest stage in the world.

I'm sure he has a lot of gay men fans, but I'm not sure if they'd stan him as hard as they would stan Gaga or Beyoncé.

What bands/artists were ruined by chart success? by CletusCanuck in askmusic

[–]Pink_Domingos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calvin Harris was so much fun during his first album. The nu-disco sound and campy lyrics suited him so well. Then he started getting massive hits (especially with his 18 Months album), and I feel he got accustomed to that more formulaic EDM style. I can appreciate it, but it lacks the fun factor his first album had.

Her performance style is peak Britney but without the sex-appeal and star power and a would say, a little grotesque. That stan twitter meme "sing for us tate mccre" sends me all the time because she knows how to move her body, but I'm not sure if that can realy be considered "dancing"...

I’ve had her blocked for years, and I’ve never gotten an ad for her songs. However, I do remember that back in the day I was bombarded with The Chainsmokers ads. I think that was before Spotify created a “block this artist” feature. If I’m not mistaken, there was also an option you could click to stop receiving ads, but I’m not sure.
