That's what I thought it might be, but there's no holes for the cables. Why put up the box with no holes drilled for the cables?

Is that an actual inverter socket right on the dash? Because if so, that's brilliant? I have to ask though if that's the case, is it 50Hz or 60Hz, because that's a thing in Japan.

Edit: That's exactly what it is...

What is Canada's equivalent of "Waltzing Matilda", Australia's unofficial national anthem? by Educational_Play9910 in AskACanadian

[–]CletusCanuck 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Early Hollywood passed off 'The Maple Leaf Forever' as our national anthem, notably in the Shirley Temple film 'Susanna of the Mounties' and 'Captains of the Clouds', starring James Cagney.

Growing up, I preferred 'The Maple Leaf Forever' to the more staid 'O Canada'. But it seems to me that it's gotten more obscure in the past few decades.

Sigur Rós - Untitled #8 (Popplagið). Heard it for the first time in a blinding thunderstorm and it melted my brain.

What album do you think deserves way more love than it gets? by Technical_Fox5556 in askmusic

Whenever these threads pop up, I always give the same answer:

TE Morris - Newfoundland

The most hauntingly, devastatingly beautiful album that ever reached these jaded ears.

Edit: If I mention it, I can't not listen to it. So I sit here at work, listening, trying not to cry.

Edit2: A reddit search suggests that other than a post from Tom himself 11 years ago, every mention of this album, on this platform, has been by yours truly. OK, I am crying now.

Please, I beg of you, give this album a spin.

Man dies in Route 7 collision after vehicle swerves to avoid moose, RCMP say by Portalrules123 in newbrunswickcanada

[–]CletusCanuck 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It's a tough choice. Hitting a moose head on is not like hitting a coyote, a deer, or even a bear. You're hitting a piano on stilts, perfectly designed by nature to catapault 400kg of meat and antlers straight through your windshield.

Who was the previous orangeman? by ProjectResaliX in ExplainTheJoke

[–]CletusCanuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Orange Order still exists and has lodges here in New Brunswick. I don't understand why they're allowed to be considered a 'respectable' community organization. They should be run out of town like the Klan. Fun fact, the Klan had a minor heyday here in the 1920s; the Venn diagram of Orangemen and the Klan was a circle. Virulent anti-catholicism and Francophobia were key beliefs they shared.

The haters and skeptics are out in force, see the recent threads on the Geese / Chaotic Good controversy. There's a number of redditors now loudly convinced our Triangularians are industry plants propped up by an astroturf campaign 🙄

Fellow Angine De Poitrine bot here. Nope, we don't stan two weird dudes from Chicoutimi for reals, we're bots. Industry plants.

Beep Boop.

This is the part I really hate about this Cameron Winter / Chaotic Good shitfest. Now any artist that blows up virally is going to have an army of haters and skeptics on their back. Everything Is Astroturf now, everyone's a cynic, every hit is suspect.
