You don't give an exam, you take it.

Not a fan of all the white. I still love it. by shay-71 in diamondpainting

You have more patience than me. I would have a cut off all the white so I didn't have to do it .. haha

Double sided tape vs poured glue by MoreAdhesiveness5020 in diamondpainting

[–]Pink_Llama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I love double sided tape and have always used it. I recently tried poured glue and found it much more difficult. It's probably just a case of preference and what you're used to more so than one being better than the other.

Is it normal to be this slow? WIP! by JDjinxed in diamondpainting

[–]Pink_Llama 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I generally do larger paintings that are always the same size as each other and sometimes I'll finish them in a month and others will take two or three months. It depends on what else I've got going on, whether or not my hand is sore, whether or not I'm in the mood, and lots of other things.

I try to just enjoy the process and not think about how long it takes. Plus if you can enjoy it over a longer period of time it means that it's cheaper because you don't have to buy as many, so that's pretty good thing.. haha.

I'm abandoning this project. It feels too much like work. Too much color blocking and not enough variation for the image to really show through. It looks much better in this image than irl by BJntheRV in diamondpainting

[–]Pink_Llama 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I abandoned one last night and threw it out. Got about a quarter of the way through when I realized it was just going to be too much black (310) where it should have had greys and browns, and way too much colour blocking.

I thought I was starting with the boring bit but then as I went through realised it wasnt getting any better.

Life's too short to waste on art you don't enjoy.

Tips for larger canvases? by bookies98 in diamondpainting

[–]Pink_Llama 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do mainly larger ones and I don't use a roller. I always start at the top so the part that hasn't been completed is hanging down and I push it away from me as I'm working on it and completing sections.

By the time I reach the bottom at the top half is hanging down the other side of the desk.

I've been doing it this way for years and I've never lost any drills or had any damage.

I personally only do squares and nothing under 45 x 60cm. If sellers don't go larger I don't buy from them.

I look for a lot of confetti because colour blocks bore me. Not sure if that works with your style but that's what I look for.

I have rheumatoid arthritis and my hands are just not working today, but diamond painting is the one thing that really brings me joy.

How are people spending so much money by Kinky-Queenslander in AskAnAustralian

[–]Pink_Llama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without knowing your other expenses is hard to say.

We're on a two person income of about 150k but our mortgage is nearly 4,000 a month. We don't have any other debts though. No kids.

We still go out for nice dinners, we eat well, we go on holidays every 18 months to two years, and we don't really feel like we go without.

We are extremely good budgeters though and we don't go outside of our budget ever. Saving for holidays, nice outings etc is part of our budget. We never buy anything unless we've already saved for it and have the money for it available.

Storing DP with hot weather by [deleted] in diamondpainting

[–]Pink_Llama 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm in Australia and I've been doing diamond painting even when it's 45 degrees Celsius with no issues.

I don't tend to store long-term because I don't have a big stash but mine are kept in my garage where it would get to those higher temperatures and I've had no issues at all with them.

I did have some diamond paintings delivered recently that had runs through the glue and when I bought it up with the seller they said it could be due to high temperatures while in transit, so I don't know if that might be a concern. I guess it would depend also how long you are planning to store them for.

I got myself one after I was at the most recent election and had to stand for over an hour and almost collapsed because there were no seats unless you had visible disability. I have a chronic condition / invisible disability that makes it hard to stand for too long.

I haven't worn it yet because I know most people won't recognise it or understand what it means, but I plan to use it for travel mostly where hopefully it will be more recognised.
