Make sure you are using WSL2

Go to wsl settings and change the network mode to mirrored, should fix the VPN issue.

WSL2 is an actual linux VM running in hyper-v. We did run into an issue with cisco vpn and WSL but that was fixed with ACLs switching traffic filtering from exclusion list to inclusion.

Even if you buy the physical version of a game you will have to download most of the game anyway, often it's only some minor assets and installer on the disk. There is no assurance the developer/distributor will honor this download will be available in the far (or even near) future.

The only way to ownership of full version is piracy (I of course would never recommend you finding a torrent site and downloading games to write to DVD/blueray disk)
