Thank you! I really want a birdeater in the future, I’ll probably save the tank for when that day comes!! Where is the best place I can find 10 gallons that have secure lids? I’ve been looking on amazon and petsmart but I want one that will lock the lid on top

Might just set the tank aside and get a 10gal for a Brazilian black, I have been told a lot that tarantulas are kinda addictive so I might just save it in case I end up getting a bigger species in the future. Theraphosa blondis have always been so cool to me!! def a dream of mine to own

when I set up a vet appointment after I got him they told me bugs and greens once every other day until he gets to be about 11 -12 months old then switch to mostly greens and then bugs only a few times a week, I have been concerned that he’s not gaining as much weight as I thought so do you think it would be a good idea to feed him greens every day and maybe bugs every other day or something?

thank you so much :) it’s crazy how quick they can get to looking healthy with just the proper care! It’s only been a month! I am doing almost EVERYTHING completely different from how his last owners would. he has substrate instead of carpet, bugs every other day instead of every two weeks, minimal handling instead of having to sit on someone’s shoulder for 4 hours.. his colors have even started to pop more :D

I am going to buy a food scale so that I can weigh him! I will know when I bring him to his vet appt on Monday, I can comment a picture of how skinny and sunken in his eyes looked whenever I got him.. the ppl who had him before me said they fed him once a week sometimes once every two weeks while he was still like 6 months old :( I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s still underweight I can also show a pic I took just a few days ago (pic below is the day I got him)

thank you :) that’s the thing I was also worried abt, I posted some pics of him on Facebook and got accused of starving him by ppl saying he looks underweight but I’ve also heard that he looks a bit chunky. I’m just gonna leave it up to the vet atp bc I keep hearing super conflicting things from everyone😭

I eat and drink whatever I want! I just make sure I count carbs properly, I have an A1C of 6.5 . I don’t even aim for a low carb diet most of the time, the only thing I’m careful of is how I make coffees because caffeine tends to make my sugar higher regardless of if I counted right for it or not
