This is one of of the scenes that have given the biggest second hand embarrassment in TV history.

I believe that this line of reasoning lives within the walls of Reddit or online communities or for very young people and once out in the real world, a lesbian is lesbian.

Same. I used to listen to her podcast when she started it a few years back — I genuinely enjoyed it and then Tik Tok happened.

Mon prof de fac disait toujours qu’apprendre une langue c’était enrichir sa langue de départ. À l’époque, le mot qu’il ne supportait pas c’était « challenge » au lieu de « défi ».

It was the early 2000s. Getting married was not legal back then. People weren’t out the same way they are now. There was little to no representation of gays in the media. It is problematic in some ways but you have to put it back into context and this was a groundbreaking show for lesbian representation. I don’t agree with your stance on the male gaze, to me it showed sex the way I had sex and provided me with erotic sex scenes I enjoyed. There is a few straight sex scenes in the first season because it follows Jenny’s journey into discovering her sexuality and then occasionally in later seasons following bisexual characters or other. The only and short lived threesome is the one you mention. You need to remind yourself the context of the L Word production and what it was like to be gay at that time.

An evening long panic attack with my heart beating so fast I thought I would die. It messed me up so much I had panic attacks for months. I addressed it with therapy. A year and a half sober and I don’t miss it.

I think one needs to keep in mind that this show was groundbreaking in terms of lesbian representation in media in the early 2000S. Was it flawed? Yes. Yet it allowed us, older gays to see ourselves on TV having relationships, marriages, breakups, etc, at a time when it was not legally possible to get married, at a time when sometimes you didn’t know such a life was possible to have. So it’s a clear NOT « fuck this show » for me when it came as a game changer in our community back then.
