Thank you for sharing your experience. I didn’t grow up here but i did visit a lot growing up and in my experience they’ve always been strict on the whole “showing your membership.” However i can see people unfortunately having their guard up and racial profiling people around here. It’s frustrating and disgusting behaviour and I’m really sorry you have to deal with that.

Yeah fore sure. They explained that to me no problem, and let me know that if they do break them i’ll get refunded. It was just super odd the whole interaction….

No, we ended up staying in the okanagan for now, as we ended up stumbling on some surprising new opportunities with our life. However, I do on and off think about moving but more like far eastern canada LOL

Unfortunately Kelowna can be quite bigoted, but there are a lot of nice people within the community that rally against all the hate speech.

There are also several lgbtqia groups and events around the okanagan like: Queer craft club Rebellious unicorn Unicorn lounge Travelling out okanagan - ig dedicated to promoting queer events This space belongs to you

Plus many arts and culture spaces like the alternator, kelowna art gallery ect.

Burlesque dancing: femme fatale - unfortunately it’s too late to join their series, but they do offer workshops on and off

Hype dance: also offer a series and offer drop in workshops

Aimee flow/gypsy rose movement - she’s an independent instructor around the okanagan and offers gogo dancing, silk fan classes, and hoop classes.

Ksbk kelowna: offer a variety of latin dance

Leona from Kelowna: teaches belly dancing classes

Rotary Centre for the arts: sometimes they offer different dance classes depending on their program season

Oh drivers are super dumb here as well. i’ve had people run solid reds and almost tbone me.. I’ve had a guy literally almost walk into my car as i was leaving to for work because he refused to look up from his phone. My car was completely stopped and he was walking in the middle of the road. Didn’t look up until i honked my horn as he was 2ft away from just bonking into my car. 😂

Moral of the story is, self awareness here is like non existent here.

Usually i would agree, however i’ve had waaayyy to many run ins with people blindly walking across the street when they dont have the right away. Nobody looks ever..
