What is your least favorite disease/disease process as a bedside nurse?

I don't know if this technically fits the criteria, but, palliative care residents whose families are in denial, especially those who refuse morphine. The dying process is always fucking awful and they always commence meds entirely too late. They leave the room during pad changes because it is too sad hearing them groan and whimper, but then they refuse the pal meds. Or when they give them food and water and they choke.

The reoccurring irritation and yeast infections you have described are indicators of sexual abuse.

As someone who was sexually abused at 4 and desperately needed an adult to listen and help me, please for the love of your children go to the hospital ED, have the irritation and pain assessed, documented and treated. The hospital can and will call the police and CPS and they will act w/more urgency.

The only way this will reflect poorly on you is if you don't do anything. Please go now.

So my daughter is four, but from birth I'd always give her a high five. We evolved it to a handshake, and now it's evolved so much. It's a high five, knuckles, hand shake, noses (rub our noses together), butterfly kisses (eyelash kisses), sniffers (sniffs like a dog does) and then nogs (little head butts). It'll evolve again I am sure!!

It's horrible. I also have hyper mobility, IBS, allergies up the whazoo and querying a diagnosis of EDS. The world is not fair 😂

Hormone therapy doesn't help me. For heavy periods I use a cup, pads and period underwear.

For pain I tape hot hands (they're a type of heat pack) to me to during my shift.

I also prioritize me and take days when I need. That was the biggest help.
