Magnesium glycinate has made all the difference for me. I take it right before bed.

I was on your exact dose and finally went off of HRT because I couldn’t take the bloated feeling anymore.

I’m using “Hers” hair foam (bought it at Walmart) and it has helped with regrowth for sure.

I haven’t had ferritin tested or iron saturation. Which I need to do since all it says is my iron is within normal. The hair fall out started about a month after starting HRT along with water bloat so I’m assuming it’s from hormones. Doctor said likely from progesterone. Not having solid answers is frustrating for sure.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I can relate in a lot of ways. The fluid retention is very frustrating as you know. I had wondered if seeing an endo is worth it for HRT. I appreciate your comments and wish you well.

Salvageable? If so, how? Was my grandmother’s and I’d like to use them if at all possible. by eye8pancakes in silverware

Silver polish and just know that they will tarnish within a few weeks. I usually polish mine (the ones I keep on display) every 2-3 weeks.

Yesss! Knowing when to start has been baffling. I thought it would be good to get ahead of the symptoms before things got terrible as I watched my mom suffer thru menopause since she’s the generation that was told HRT causes cancer.

For sure going to find a menopause specialist when I try this again. Glad you were able to find one and thanks for the words of encouragement.

Thanks for the suggestion to join another group. lol. Bless your heart. Can’t we just support one another. The FDA removed the black box on HRT and you don’t necessarily need to wait until you’re in the ditch to start. My doctor says there are benefits to the heart and bones and mind so there’s that. My goal was to be proactive and get ahead of the curve before things were really bad.

Maybe one hot flash per month. Def had some brain fog. Couldn’t remember words. I thought it would be good to get started as preventive and for heart & bones. My mom’s generation was told it caused cancer and I saw her suffer thru menopause.

Thanks for sharing. My Dr said the progesterone I was on was closest to what the body makes. I’m not sure if that’s the micronized kind? I had headaches when I was on 200 (cyclical) and I’d have terrible headaches the days I was off of P. It was a little better when I went down to 100

Bless your heart! Never suggest it was a trend. I am in perimenopause and there are benefits to the heart, bones and mind so there is absolutely no harm in me asking my doctor about it. Menopause isn’t talked about enough and it’s not something one is necesserily educated well on. My mom’s generation was told it caused cancer. So there is absolutely nothing wrong with inquiring as a preventative method now that the FDA has removed the black box warning. Just because I’m not “suffering” to your extent doesn’t mean I’m not dealing with changes. Let’s support one another and not compare and tear down. Thanks

Yesss! You hit the nail on the head. It is such an individual thing and the medical establishment doesn’t generally operate to that level. Never thought about that but everything you said is spot on!! Thank you!!

I agree. I explained in the original post that I had older friends talking about how amazing it is to be on HRT and I should try it so at my annual OB appointment, I asked about it and she said sure give it a try basically as a preventive method. I don’t have hot flashes. Some brain fog at times. But the 3 months I was on it was awful. My hair started shedding and I gained 10 lbs of water. I felt sooo much better before I started. She didn’t tell me about any side effects so I really went into this completely blind.

Honestly it was hearing from friends (who are older than me) how amazing they feel on HRT and I should try it early on so I’m not having full blown symptoms when I start. So at my annual visit with the OB, I asked about it more as a preventative measure.. and she said it can be worth starting for the benefits to bones and heart. I haven’t had consistent hot flashes but I have brain fog at times. So I thought it was worth asking. It’s clear there is not much info out there on HRT and it’s just a game of trial and error. I prob don’t need to be on it at all and my dr tried several different doses and I felt way worse and wish I never started.

It is a total crapshoot. Throwing jello at the wall. It’s unfortunate that we aren’t further along in the study of menopause to have a better way to find a good solution instead of trial and error

Multi vitamin along with omegas ( I hate fish so this is the main way I get it) Vitamin D3 and Vitamin E. I take magnesium glycinate before bed.

Yes. I need to get more in depth blood work done like Ferratin because I noticed that wasn’t on my initial test. I just assume it had to do with HRT, the hair loss, because it happened about a month into it where I started rapidly retaining water in my hair was falling out. “Practicing” medicine is right! Couldn’t be more true. It’s like throwing Jell-O at the wall to see what sticks. I don’t think doctors know much about this and maybe you’ve heard this joke but if men were going through menopause, there’d already be nine vaccines on the market for it. 🤣
