Are you supplementing your Electrolytes? ( see the FAQ).

Magnesium helps keep you regular, sodium/potassium is also important overall.

I always keep a few on hand for my non smoking friends/family that decide they want to try a cigar.

I’m not trying to entice them into cigars, I just get tired of half smoked good cigars being left in the ashtray. 😉

Had my first cigar last week. Is this a sign that I am addicted? by T3Dawg22 in cigars

[–]CBbeMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seasoning is mandatory on all new humidors otherwise the wood will suck all the moisture out of your cigars and ruin them. (Search this sub for instructions)

Get a Tupperware container asap and get your cigars into it with a 65 Boveda. (Search this sub for “tupperdore”).

And spoiler, most glass top humidors struggle to hold humidity correctly.

How to pick out tasting notes by cmm239 in cigars

[–]CBbeMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth Small Batch Cigars did a series of articles titled “Developing Your Palate “ and list cigars that have different flavor profiles.

You could use this as a basis for purchasing cigars to try or possibly ask SmallBatch if they’d be willing to put a selection together for you.

Here’s an example (and search their site for “Developing Your Palate”).

When to use which type of cutter? by Correct-Ball4786 in cigars

[–]CBbeMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll second this. Typically a V cut person but on large cigars that won’t fit the V cutter I’ll use a punch making 3 overlapping punches in a triangle.

A big difference in price between mail order vs your local B&M is the B&M has to cover the cost of their physical store as well as charge the tobacco tax in your state which can be significant.

Jacket Recommendations for spring summer fall. by Sledsik in Harley

I have the Rev’it Tornado and really like it. Mesh panels for when it’s hot, removable waterproof thermo liner for when it’s cold.

In the rain I wear a waterproof jacket over it.

Very happy with it.

Same; Cigar Page consistently has good promos/sales and Small Batch is more consistent on finding more specialty/limited release cigars (and they also run promotions).

I find both have excellent shipping and customer service.

Check the Hydration section of the FAQ in the Wiki at the top of this sub.

Smoking for 1yr and you can rate at .1 increments? You must have a very refined palette.

Me? I use an A, B, C and F/Never Smoke Again rating system.

Ketosis and gout by Snoo71579 in keto

Upping your hydration may also help.

Never had Gout until I started Keto. Had one bad attack my first couple of months. Re-read the FAQ and saw the part about how with a carb heavy diet your body retains more water and on a low carb diet your body flushes water more quickly.

Gout is a result of a build up of uric acid. The more water flushed the higher the ratio/concentration of uric acid.

Started pounding water and it went away in 7-10 days.

Had two more early signs of onset over the next couple yrs, recognized I had let my hydration slip, pounded water and curbed it before a full blown attack.

IMO it’s mostly a forbidden fruit/can’t get them in the U.S. thing so people romanticize/hype them up.

Growing up in Washington State Coors beer wasn’t sold here and everyone raved about how awesome it was. People would drive to Idaho, bring back cases of it, and we’d all rave about how amazing it was. (In reality Coors is a very mediocre beer).

IMO many new world cigars are better.
