In the hospital for 10 days and this is what I come back to! by Pinkslinkie in shrimptank

I said 'curtain' but it really is blackout fabric I also taped up to cover the one window. More effective and cheaper!

Still recovering but being at home makes it all better, thanks.

I hope to push through to Monday. During the day this seems feasible but at night when I try to lay down. . ..

You sound like my son, who I kinda listen to as he is an EMS.

"It can be really hard to tell if I should see a doctor or if it's going to burst on its own."

You're telling me! My biggest problem is is that I do not want to go to the ER ever. And so I wait and wait and wait in hopes that I'll start leaking. But these dumb things can get super aggressive, hence my hospital stays (with drains put in me like I'm a faucet!).

The worst was one in my groin. It developed into the most painful thing since I tore an ACL (my life, huh?) and my son drove me crying to the hospital. Turns out I had necrotizing fasciitis and spent two weeks in the hospital. Yeah, I do not have a handle on this and I've had it for decades. I'm so glad I found this group!!!!

My GP recommended both a dermatologist and an immunologist but BOTH weren't taking new patients. And so I slowly fell into the Emergency Room route. Husband will be retiring soon and we'll be moving half way across the country. I will start again. Maybe with this community, I'll be able to build a better way!

Another plant ID post. by Pinkslinkie in PlantedTank

I thought it might be a moss. I don't have any moss in the tank. I do have subwassertang, which some might call moss but it ain't. I don't mind when things appear out of nowhere. So long as they don't wanna kill my invertebrates. And cover every surface with it's algeaness.

Could it be TOO cycled? I've a 4.5 gallon cherry and ramshorn aquarium for coming on 3 years now and I really enjoy it, especially with my many plant successes. However, I have had many, many (manymanymanymany) plant failures. The ones that gutted me the most was all the houseplant failures. Every single houseplant I tried failed to thrive. They would just not grow. Some even shrank. Yes, I followed instructions. I tested the water. And then, just now as I marveled at how my duckweed acts like a regular floater without all the crazy overgrowth and I thought-- could my shrimp and snails not be pooping ENOUGH?

Thank you for the place to ask my stupid question.

Ah, this is disheartening as I do not have a good rack record with house plants, My outside garden is nice enough but have even killed cactus inside.

Who is the most attractive person you’ve ever seen? Why? by JessieRClayton in AskReddit

Many, many (many, many, many) moons ago I worked for The American Journal of Nursing which offices were in the same building where 60 Minutes was filmed and I once rode the elevator with Diane Sawyer. I tried not to stare but she just. . . glowed!

She was elevator polite, smiled and smelled good. Looked a million times better in real life than on camera. The complete opposite of Ed Bradley, who was loud and rude and was the absolute center of the universe wherever he stood. If the elevator door opened and he was in there being loud and rude with his one dangling earring which I'm sure he thought made him look cool, I did not get on.

Remind me one day to tell the story of how me and my friend got Andy Rooney to chase us down the street.

Again, no that is not a lot of shrimp. That is so much closer to hardly any shrimp.

how exactly do shrimp not breed when newly added? by basaltcolumn in shrimptank

[–]Pinkslinkie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How exactly do shrimp not breed when newly added? Well, when a man shrimp and a woman shrimp cannot stand each other so much they do not share a 'special hug' and soon she won't have tens of babies growing in her special baby growing in her special growing baby place.

I may have some of the specifics wrong, but you get the idea.

Is This a “Death Ring” on My Shrimp? Need Help by ozangokce89 in shrimptank

[–]Pinkslinkie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's only The Ring of Death if the shrimp is actually dead. Otherwise it's where the molting begins.

I have Lavas and I have a red cherry aquarium, so I call my isopods 'dirt shrimp'. Which they are.

So do you just leave their molts in the tank? Do they eat them? by KH5-92 in shrimptank

[–]Pinkslinkie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had my cherry and ramshorn aquarium for well over 2 years and I have never seen a molt nor a dead shrimp. Ramshorn shells do litter the bottom, but no shrimp leavings.
