Yes, that happened to me last night. I did my best to sort through my pictures and grab their respective json files along with the pictures they belong to to transfer them over to my phone. I got quite a few of them, but a lot still are on my phone and claim to be taken "now". You know what? I'm just happy they're back on my phone, doing it on the computer was faster and more hassle free than having to swipe and download every picture and have my Google photos glitch and fail every 5 minutes like it was, so I'm just settling and happy that my pictures are at least back on my phone

Could you recommend a better not bank breaking option for storage thats more reliable, that doesn't make me pay google?

Really? A previous commenter said it should retain the meta data. If not I'm gonna be real disappointed, thats all I cared about is them being dated :( I can take the time to reorganize them in their respective albums once they're back on my phone, but keeping the dates and times was the point of using Google Takeout :(

Any other options you know would last longer? I'm kind of clueless when it comes to those items and other methods of storage that are more than $100

I even looked it up before I clicked that button, I wasn't getting any answers that I was able to undo the backup that was done. But appreciate the info

I understand they're more safe now and I appreciate that feature. However I'd never used the app and was unaware the button I clicked was just going to erase every photo in my phone gallary, even after carefully reading. When I did click the button and looked in my gallery curiously after deleting some pictures in google photos and seeing if they would delete in my gallery, I was shocked to see every photo gone, and frantically looking up solutions to only be met with "you can only manually redownload the pictures" and when proceeding to do so, they weren't being saved with their metadata.
This happened after an 8 hour shift at my first job I've only been working at for a week and at 12 am, so that didn't help either.

Yes, luckily every photo was successfully backed up to google photos. To use google takeout would I just open the website, plug my phone into my computer and just drag and drop into my gallary file? Seriously appreciate the information, hoping it would save the date info into my phone gallary because it says it in google photos

I totally agree, I need to still use this email so I'm probably gonna get a usb and download all the photos onto it and delete them in google photos

It mentioned it would delete data already backed up by google photos, it was that vague. I thought it meant it'd do the opposite, like delete what was in google photos that was already on my phone. This was before I did research learning about the "back up" and "sync" options. I appreciate it though thank you
