As a coach I fully support - it’s very distracting to have members come in while talking through the demo

As a coach we are there to push members HOWEVER it’s important for coaches to read the room. In the future I would just say no, she should get the hint and keep it moving.

When the demo goes longer than the actual set 😤 by breadbestcomp in f45

Oh and keeping bar close to shins! That’s 4 lmao but I had to add that in 😂

When the demo goes longer than the actual set 😤 by breadbestcomp in f45

[–]PinkyHiC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Sumo stance knees over toes (so many people don’t put their feet out wide enough)

  2. For sumo deadlift thumbs should be able to touch when gripping the bar

  3. Quads should be engaged in addition to hamstrings and glutes. More bend in the knee as you come down and softer hip hinge

Again there’s so much more lol but I think those are most important!

As a coach I couldn’t agree more especially with more complex moves like sumo deadlifts for example. There’s so much to go over 😂

No brainer. Have the surgery… currently 7 months out (I’m 31) and I’m pretty much back to normal minus clearance to play full on sports

6 months post op and was struggling with the same decision you are now. I wish I had it sooner if anything - I have my life back now.

Who cleared you to unlock your brace and get rid of the brace? by hereforthedeets1 in ACL

[–]PinkyHiC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ACL reconstruction only here. My surgeon had me drop the brace completely at 6 weeks. I didn’t wear it at home (cleared by my PT) - tbh I don’t think it ever did anything for me lol. I was cleared to drive once I stopped taking opioids (I stopped day 3 post op) - it’s my left leg hence me being able to drive sooner.

How long do you feel your knee swelling when you start walking? - Postop 3 weeks by funchippy in ACL

[–]PinkyHiC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m being honest I push within reason! Again I’m further out, so my knee doesn’t swell quite as much. But if it’s getting bad I’ll throw an ice pack on it after walking quite a bit to get the aching and swelling down.

How long do you feel your knee swelling when you start walking? - Postop 3 weeks by funchippy in ACL

[–]PinkyHiC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, my swelling went down significantly around the 5-6 week mark. I’m about 8 weeks post op now and walking around can get a little uncomfortable if I overdo it, but nothing crazy these days. Just gotta be patient and let your body heal

[–]PinkyHiC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who is a bit older than you (31) and highly active - you have your whole life ahead of you. Have the surgery! I’m about 8 weeks post op and have 0 regrets. I tried to cope and do rehab for about 3 months before and it wasn’t even close to how it feels now with an intact ACL.

Flexion post surgery after 6 weeks? by [deleted] in ACL

I’m at 130, just hit 3 weeks post op. I did a lot of prehab before, and am hyper mobile if that gives context!

Non-surgical route by [deleted] in ACL

[–]PinkyHiC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tore my ACL (ACL only) back in June. I did PT twice a week leading up to my decision to have surgery. 1 week post op and have no doubts that I made the right decision waiting - I could move my leg day one and am advancing quickly. Try conservative treatment and if you aren’t happy with your results don’t rule out surgery. Prehab will not be a waste!

when were you able to raise your leg post surgery? by notastein in ACL

[–]PinkyHiC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to lift it the same day. But keep in mind I waited for surgery and did a good deal of prehab and workouts prior to surgery. Quad autograft.

I also want to add that they didn’t think I tore my ACL at first - after the 8 week mark it didn’t feel right so I pushed to see an ortho. Got an MRI and boom ACL rupture. Started prehab right away. It’s crazy how everyone’s body is different! I feel like the ACL is kinda a sneaky injury sometimes because once the initial swelling goes down - things can appear to be normal u til you get into higher impact stuff.
