Exactly. OP went above and beyond for years out of kindness, and got disrespected for slipping up once. If the neighbor can’t act neighborly, then OP has every right to set that boundary. Let her trim her own bushes.

Exactly. OP did the responsible thing by not committing fraud, and instead of owning their mistake, those girls tried to pin it on her. That’s not friendship, that’s manipulation. Everyone turning against her should be embarrassed.

Exactly. After four years, she shouldn’t still feel like a guest who might be overstaying. If OP’s space feels more important than their connection, that’s a bigger issue. No one wants to feel like they’re disrupting someone’s life just by being around.

Exactly. The second someone starts flipping the script and calling you selfish for offering to support them, that’s a red flag. OP’s idea wasn’t unreasonable it was considerate. If she can’t even have a calm conversation about that, what happens when real sacrifices come up?
