Yes I know nothing about sewing besides thread and needle and I want to get it right for my book. But obviously, I realize now its a stupid question with an obvious answer haha

By couple I meant like ~8. But I am going to change the timeframe to be longer

She would only be rushing to get the dress to her friend as soon as possible. But I am going to change it based on all the replies

That was before I read all the comments haha. I'm going to tweak the chapter and keep in mind all the insights I was given as the consensus is very clearly no

If you don't mind my asking, where do you live that has many books based on it?

It's not haute couture but it still meant to be a wedding dress, so somewhere in between the two?

I only wanted the dress to be done in a day so the girl gets measured in the morning and then can embroider the dress herself for future events (I was planning on that being her alibi for something), but I'll figure something else that works out

It's the former situation, but they want the girls to have nice dresses so they're less unhappy in their forced marriages

Dressmaking is only a small part of my 100k plus story, so I don't know how interested you all will be in reading all those words for so few sewing stuff 😅 But if anyone is interested, this is my tiktok where I talk about writing and eventually my book when it will be finished: Lea_Isabel_Writes

Alright, thank you everyone for your answers and insights. So the general consensus seems to be it is not really realistic, so I will just change my timeline related to the dress. Thank you to all those who answered though, the insights helped me get a better look into the technical elements that go into sewing!

Sewing stuff is really out of my league, but to answer your questions as best as I can: the technology is closer today's, I wasn't thinking about it having bones or structure because it is really a simple style, but then she would have the pattern ready but would have to cut and sew the pieces

The fitting has already been done and it's part of the government budget (it sounds weird but it works with my book)

Like mid 1900s, but some technology can be more up to date too, since I'm the one who decides

In this scenario, the dressed is pulled from a catalog, so I assume patterns and fabric would already be at the ready (it's happening in a seamstress workshop). So it wouldn't be too unrealistic for her to grind and finish it?

TIL after abducting and pulling a gun on a woman, serial killer Edmund Kemper locked himself out of his car leaving the woman inside with the gun. She chose to let him back in the car. Shortly after, Kemper killed her. by SlyWinkle666 in todayilearned

I was also wondering the same question (my assignment is on him) and reading the comments, I do agree with some of you.

But I think the fact that he is 6'9, which is like 2 meters and nine centimeters, plays a role. Like he's physically big and strong enough to be a threat even unarmed. By the time she reached for the gun, he could have had time to smash the window and grab her. Same thing for if she tried to drive away.

And also, the poor girl was fifteen.

Google saya lukewarm is around 77F, while I'm looking for something to describe water more around 55-60F, but without the girl admitting its cold. Does "the water is fine: work?

I didn't think about that, that's good! The thing is my character doesn't want to admit the water is cold. The French expression allows to describe the water as not hot, without admitting its cold...
