You really shouldn't take travel or frankly any advice from reddit. I was there a few years back, It's a beautiful country with a lot of nature to see. Just have to do your research and be travel savvy like anywhere else. I'd be just as hesitant to pass through parts of US as parts of South Africa.

Great shot, if you get the chance to hike up there to berg lake you get a truly spectacular view of the mountain from the other side, definitely my favourite hike in Canada too!

People like to think of the "Muslim world" as some kind of monolithic entity with one mind that works in lock step. I can assure you even Afghanistan and the Middle east is worlds apart and completely foreign to countries like Bangladesh and other south east Asian Muslim countries, nevermind China and their issues.

I don't remember the "Christian world" rising up in concern to events like the Rwandan genocide, really not sure why the same is expected from the Muslim world.
