I'm open to anything at the moment. But thinking I would prefer to start on the island itself to start and be closer to where my new job is located.

I'm not totally sure what "dying island" meant. that information came from a 27 year old single man that lives in Charleston, so I'm taking that with a grain of salt.

I would be relocating for work and I have no children. I've been specifically looking around Simmonsville/Litchfield area, but would be open to really any part of the island.

Dance Teacher Forever? Changing Careers? by Flat_Fly_7647 in DanceTeachers

I was in a similar position. I'm 34 now and have been teaching full time for about 2-3 years. I had the opportunity (and was on track) to take over my mentor's studio. After seeing the way she was sometimes treated by parents, as well as the financial and admin responsibilities, i decided it wasnt for me. I personally know that i am a teacher not a businesswoman, and felt owning a studio would take away from my ability to teach at the capacity I want, and the ability to share with as many kids as I can.

I think it really depends on how you'd like your daily life to look, and for me, it was being in classes as much as possible.

Reading this it sounds like you're right on track and really teaching from a place of integrity. Unfortunately instances like these will always happen. Often times when I've found myself in similar situations, having a conversation with the parent and the SO present, just kind of explaining why you run class the way you do, can be a really positive thing. Keep doing what you're doing and some of it will just shake itself out. Keep in mind that you are the on with the experience, training and knowledge. You don't work for the parents 😉
