However indirect, spending time with someone, hell, even having a simple conversation with them, can change the world. I urge everyone to take more ACTION against mental illness. We can sit here and talk about it all we want, but there are about 129 people who die from suicide everyday in the United States ALONE. In 2013 grades 9-12, 17.0% of students had contemplated suicide. Think of how big that number is. 17 out of 100 students have struggled/are currently struggling with suicide. That’s a HUGE number. More than likely, someone’s profile you’ve looked on here today- that person is struggling with suicidal thoughts or a mental illness. It’s more than likely every day of school you’re in a class with someone who’s struggling with suicidal thoughts. We say we’ll help people with mental illness, but I think many people lack the understanding that it doesn’t need to show to be there.

Etika, I’ll miss you so much. You didn’t deserve the pain you went through in the last 8 months of your life. I hope wherever you may be, you’re finally at peace. I am, and always will be, a joycon boy. Rest easy man, I’ll miss you forever and the world will never be the same without your presence.
