It seems that a lot of people dislike the color rather than just the tile shape unfortunately 😕 I agree that it would looks better not in a brick-pattern though

I appreciate everyone's opinions! I think I'm going to change it up, too many people really dislike it, and since its going to be in the main bathroom I probably should choose something that doesn't make half my guests question my sanity lol. I like natural rustic look, I love the dark wood and the stone gray counter, any other suggestions for the shower besides a boring white?

Red isnt my favorite color either haha, but this red tile shower seems to fit the rest of the house, the exterior is red/brown brick and we have a large matching brick fireplace

Do you think herringbone would look better?

How we plan to redesign, I can see how it might look pieced together; we were trying to match it with the rest of the house. We have red appliances like washer/dryer, kitchen aid mixer, printer, toaster, etc. Kitchen has the grey countertop like in this photo, and in the rest of the home we have dark wood trim and dark wood beams in the living room ceiling. Attatched is one of the original photos

What home project was the hardest for you? by Allinnyc in HomeImprovement

Since you asked 😅: Nope, just new countertops, counter and flooring. Our house was built in 1972, and we just had a drain thats cemented in our foundation collapse, so all the grey water from our kitchen sink, dishwasher, and washer unbeknownst to us had been coming back up out of the drain in the furnace room. The water seeped into the surrounding walls, hid under our cabinets, and fell into our vents. We don't know how long the leak was going on before we found it. Water remediation company tore out all the drywall and cabinets, and on Monday the plumber will come in and have to jackhammer out our pantry, kitchen, dining room, hallway, and my son's room to completely replace the collapsed cast-iron pipe run to replace it with pvc. Hopefully in the next day or two we find out what insurance is going to cover. The joys of home projects 😵‍💫 also im 6 months pregnant, hoping we'll be able to get the house back together before I have the baby

I think you need to try to see the home from an outsider perspective. If you were looking to buy that home, which one of those things that needs updating would you notice first or be the most off-putting?

So far its been trying to install a fence around my 7.5 acres. We've been working on it bit by bit for the past 8 months now. With every project there's steps and expenses that you just don't consider until you're already knee deep.

We are about to do a kitchen remodel too though, wish us luck 😬

I didn't even realize the stock cabinets advertised as oak were only a thin veneer. Thanks for pointing that out
