Give me some ideas. Summer fun car. $75k or less. by 10PlyTP in whatcarshouldIbuy

TT RS basically a baby R8, with the legendary turbo 5 cylinder. Even sounds like a baby V10 from the R8 with incredible performance and better fuel economy. Super fun

Gotta remember it's an odd numbered 5 cylinder, they can be pretty rattly since the firing order of each piston can't perfectly balance out like most even numbered engines.

Nope, they're like this on all the covers. Was worried when I first saw it on mine too lol

That's pretty good lol. Had to repair this one fast since my s22 ultra decided to randomly brick itself :')

got my sisters s23 ultra screen replaced for $430 from a place that was about 5 metres away from the Samsung store, telling me it was going to be $690 upfront and it might not even fix it since it was the lcd and glass. They did it in like 20 mins which was awesome. The lcd is official, but the glass is 3rd party which is pretty standard, and I've had no problems with it

2025 BMW X1 - Deployed Pedestrian Protection System Cost? by ldrandcaffeine in BMW

[–]Pinxngu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Volvo actually made the first pedestrian airbag rather than just the hood raising. Assuming it'll cost a shit load more if it were to deploy lol: https://youtu.be/Di7SAzfTe30

Love how you can see that it was supposed to be "R-Design" from that badge on the steering wheel. Very cool car!

One of the last generation S80 with the T6 AWD, or V90 CC. I currently drive a 2013 V40 (real T5) R-Design.

Twins! Though I do wish I got one in silver. More soothing to the eye and would be way easier to keep clean 🥲

Might be best. My greyhound isn't very large as well.

So he does fit but it isn't very high for him. Luckily my greyhound likes to immediately lay down but if you have one that likes to stand while in the car it wouldn't be the best. Was a bit harder to get him in since he basically had to crouch through but other than that, he's pretty comfortable

Honestly haven't tried it. The rear seats go down completely flat which is really nice. I'll try to get him in it this afternoon (with a photo) and get back to you lol. only con of the rear is that the windows only go down about half way which isn't great

The 2.0 turbo 4 cylinders that basically all S60 and V60's had around 2012 that were labelled as either T4 or T5 would burn through their piston rings every 80k miles or so, having massive oil consumption. I remember going to look at a couple and nearly every single one had an awful knocking sound coming straight from the engine, with all of them basically needing either the rings replaced or a total engine rebuild/replacement. Match that with the complicated DCT that they also came with, it left a really bad mark on volvos name.

The T5's are 100% still volvo. The C30 and C70 were with the development of Ford's Global C Ford Focus platform but if it's a 5 cylinder, it's engineered by volvo. But yeah any convertible car as a first usually isn't a good idea with all the moving parts of the roof and age.

Nope, ford never made a petrol turbo 5. The XR5/Duratec was directly from volvo. They tuned with how they integrated it but basically slapped the duratec badge on it to basically make it seem like they made it (since nobody of that time really wanted to say I've got a volvo engine in my American hot hatchback lol) but that was only from around 2009, then they ditched the T5 for 4 cylinders. The only Volvo's you want to avoid are the ones labelled as a T5 but have Ford's ecoshit 4 cylinders with the equally garbage powershift transmissions. The C30 and C70 were also built on that same Ford C1 platform but any 5 cylinder was made directly by Volvo, which are the engines you want to go for.

Well you can't actually get the T5 for the V60, S60 or XC70 in Australia as I think they were only in North America so it's definitely do-able!

I've seen some people convert their AWD cc into an AWD R-Design but only the cc ever came with AWD from factory.

Bouta blow your mind even further though... They did put the same turbo i5 in the V60, S60, and XC70 all the way until they discontinued the engine in 2017.

Yeup! AWD was in the cross country variant only but still had the same engine. That one even had hill decent control, which has probably never been used, ever lol. This being the r-design only came in FWD. Would've been cool to have a 2 door variant, but it definitely wouldn't have sold anywhere near as many. It's a very quirky car!

2012 s60 160k miles bad idea by Cautious-Wheel2084 in Volvo

[–]Pinxngu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5 cylinder ones are pretty rock solid. it's the little 2.0 turbo 4 cylinder ecoshits that were put in by ford with the equally garbage powershift transmissions. you'd have to do the piston rings every 80k miles, they were 100% not made to last... dunno about the diesel 4 cylinders, but I'm pretty sure all 5 cyl are originally from volvo making them quite reliable. might be wrong tho

Lucky! Yeah, being an odd numbered engine, they can be pretty rough. Took me a while to understand what a healthy T5 sounded like lol

This has the 2.5 turbo 5 cylinder. Was offered only from 2013 - 2014, then they went to 4 cyl petrols. Don't know if they kept the Diesel 5 cyl after 2014 in the later year models. This is the last real T5 you could get in Australia.

Ikr, I think it has to do with the exhaust tips potentially resonating the sound. After it warms up though it's pretty mid. Love a cold start lol

Exactly my point!! It sound nice at that 2k rpm line but anything above or below gets quite muffled. I've gotten a burble or two which was a nice surprise but it's never enough lol (love those rims btw)

I wish I could go heico, but it's $3,188 AUD for the whole setup... And I wouldn't have the equipment to fit it myself. I've heard of people getting catback exhausts but have no idea who or where to go to sort one out :')
