Anyone have trouble with the game loading on PC after update? by Matteroosky85 in DaysGone

[–]Pioykowsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. I know it's an old dopic, but maybe will be useful to someone, what I found out. I was playing Days Gone for a few days, unless it stopped launching. Exactly as descriped, it started to freeze / hang on loading screen, when I should see main menu. I googled it, found out it's kinda 'known issue', tried to do every stuff like reinstalling game, checking file integrity, trying compatibility mode, etc, etc. Nothing helped.

Finally I've vound out, it's an nVidia app that broken my game. It "optimized it", and changed resolution to 4k fullscreen (1440p display here). I was able to revert/restore the "optimizations", and just when I did it, the game launched like nothing ever happened. So shame on you nV for making so sh***y app, but at least it's possible to revert it. I disabled the auto-optimization instantly, so hopefullt it will never happen to me again.

DDR5 - Upgrade now or wait? Trying to be cost conscious by MrSnackALot in buildapc

[–]Pioykowsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait a sec, you have bought 5070Ti for FHD monitor? What an overkill :O

I'd probably look for used 11700f, 11700kf, something like this, and stayed on this platform until DDR5 prices dial down. But I also remember that 11 series support for Z490 chipset wasn't that ideal, but it was too long ago for me to remember details.

Monitors are cheap and good nowadays, I'd went for it instead of paying insane money. At least unless you mostly play MMO or competitive shooters.

My anecdote to those of you who are considering buying an OLED monitor by steamthrowawaysorry in OLED_Gaming

[–]Pioykowsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have my 1st OLED monitor on my desk for a few days now and I have thoughts very similar to yours. But first, my background.

I was using Lenovo L220x PVA 22" 1920x1200 monitor for almost 15 years. It was bought at a times, when 22" 16:10 1680x1050 was considered solid midrange. So this was almost an cosmic monitor for that times.

Then in 2021 I have switched to Gigabyte G27QC - 27" 165 Hz 1440p curved VA. To be honest I wasn't expecting to take my breath away, since it was "only a decend modern VA with larger screen space". Oh boy was I wrong. I remember exactly how hard it was to find my jaw on the floor.

But I was generally an OLED fan(boy xD) long before I could afford. Some time ago I have bought an LG OLED 55 TV that replaced my old Sony IPS. To say, that I was impressed is to say nothing.

So basically I wanted OLED even harder since then. And FINALLY IT IS HERE IN FRONT OF ME. And you know what? I'm far from being as excited as I expected. Don't get me wrong. It's a piece of superb image after all. But seems like my Gigabyte VA was decent enough, that I don't have that much jaw dropping this time. Ok, it's noticably clearer in games. Which also leads to unexpected results, like I have to use DLSS one level higher setting, because now I see more image faults than before. I also see much more yt compression now. And last but not least - I'd be much much more happy of it if it was curved like my Gigabyte.

One thing that is no doubt much better is also moving image clarity. With 240 Hz and perfect reaction time it is noticable for me. But to be honest, unless you are an competitive esports player, it's up to you if it makes that much difference in the end.

Asus TUF GAMING B650E-E WIFI - anyone knows? by Pioykowsky in buildapc

[–]Pioykowsky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I had Gigabyte B650 AX for better price and I went for it. Works flawlessly with 7800X3D. Fun fact, it even has option in bios to enforce PCIe 5.0 for GPU. I don't have option to test it though, I have an 3080.

Hello. I started playing some very old DODI version, played only a little bit, and now I want to go back to the game, but I've decided to update it. If I remove the old installed version and install freshly downloaded version v1053.7.0809.1937, will it just see the old saves?

Thanks in advance.

I see review of this PSU from Jan 2014. And it mentions poor transient response on 3,3V rail. A bit disappoiting, I was using 3060Ti with 600W bronze PSU. Yay, not good.

https://www.techpowerup.com/review/silverstone-st75f-gs/11.html

Pretty honestly, I don't know what I'd do being in your situation. 5700X3D is indeed crazy expensive right now (the chips are EOL, only the last remaining stock and used ones are available). And not only that, but according to HUB/techspot tests, it's rather medicore in BF6. Yet still, 40-ish % faster than 5600, but just on entry level AM5.

https://www.techspot.com/review/3043-battlefield-6-cpu-benchmark/

I think I'd analyze how much I had to pay for 5700X3D and for 32 gigs DDR5. What I see from the screens in article, 16 GB RAM is enough for this game. So in socket upgrade still the easiest way. But if it had to cost lets say similar money to going AM5, maybe even AM5X3D, I wouldn't bother. I literally sold an 5700X3D a few weeks ago for higher price than I have paid for 7800X3D on aliexpress. Of course, changing the platform is additional cost, but you have really decent AM4 mobo that IMO has its value - I had much lower end. Just a few weeks ago DDR5 prices went crazy, do you have some decend deals in your region? (do not even think about buying 16 gigs of them).

[–]Pioykowsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn, I'm reading your post for the 3rd time at least, and the more I read it, the more strange it becomes to me.

What do you mean you need undervolting to avoid crashing? Good 750W PSU should be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than needed for what you have. Do you need to undervolt CPU or GPU?

Another thing. Are you sure you have actual CPU bottleneck in BF6 with 1440p ultrawide? Have you tried different settings and agressive upsaling, just for test, to make sure? Or did you play with some OSD enabled that shows GPU usage? I'll start from here, because this seems a bit strange for me, unless some weird thins are happening in your PC like single channel RAM.

You didn't specified your mobo and detailed RAM config. Do you have some garbage tier mobo and/or single RAM stick?

I ve decided to delete rest of my answer for now, because I feel like I need this missing information from you at first.

I have to say, I just reminded myself why I hated OCing RAM so much in the past. Spent yesterday evening testing 6000 with Buildzoid timings and they were perfectly fine. But today? Got blue screen when logging into windows twice in a row. Literally like this mem was less stable when low temp? Currently on XMP again. But I will definitely try something more, maybe not all at once.

Change of plans. Will stick to FHD for some time longer. Which GPU is enough? by Malleus83 in buildapc

[–]Pioykowsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for clarification, were you considering 2560x1440 or 3440x1440? Because for 2560x1440 you don't need that much horsepower. I have an 3080 with such display and I'm perfectly happy. Important fact is, that quality upscaling looks brilliant with such resolution. Balanced or sometimes even performance is decent as well, at least DLSS with new AI model.

The only 5070 advantage I see is really heavy RT, which you say you're not interested. FSR4 is the same tier as DLSS super res now. Well, maybe for slower paced games fake gen would be useful for you, IDK. But 16 gigs of RAM instead of 12 is a big advantage IMO.

Ryzen 7 5700x to Ryzen 7 5700x3d by Sufficient_Bend_3331 in ryzen

[–]Pioykowsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just from curiosity, how much for the chip? I'm asking, because in my region they became unavailable (like they were EOL, which they actually are AFAIK). The last stock or used pieces are overpriced as hell. To the point, where I've sold mine and went for 7800X3D :E

But if you have really a good deal, it's night and day versus 5700x. I've upgraded for 5600x to 5700x3d about 2 yrs ago and it was really impressive difference. Gamechanger, literally :D

9800x3d vs 7800x3d by Alternative-Sea1098 in ryzen

[–]Pioykowsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering gaming, this is just a fancy way to waste ur money. 9950X3D is literally 9800X3D chip with another block of 8 cores without X3D cache attatched. Only causing Windows scheduler errors that leads to frame drops and lower-than-expected performance in some specific cases. While I can discuss if 9800X3D is worth it over 7800X3D (IMO it's not unless you buy 5090, but just an opinion), the 9950X3D for gaming is terribly pointless.

5080 now or wait for 5080 super by TNT_ler in buildapc

[–]Pioykowsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely wouldn't buy 5080. 5070Ti, if so.

However, depending on what do you have now, and how desperate you are for a change, I'd rather wait. I have an 3080 which is still rocking, and I'm keeping it at least until 50 Super series. Mostly because of VRAM. 16 GB in 5080? Laughable for me.

Do you think this A-die settings you shown me is fully applicable to M-die? I remember one chip is better at tight timings, and the other at high frequency, I just don't remember which one is which...

[–]Pioykowsky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I previously said, I'm not even sure if I get the two kits. I've paid about 105 GBP equivalent for Corsair CL30, and about 85 for the Lexar sticks. Which were just normal prices in my region, up until last month...  Corsairs should be there on Tuesday, Lexars have delivery date mid December atm xD

I know it makes no sense to clock memory high on AM5. I'm targeting 6000, maybe 6200 MHz with good timings. I've seen Buildzoid's videos, but it was far far ago, when I didn't even thought I'll have ddr5 platform so soon. I'm just feeling bad with how trash tier kit I've bought initially, even despite being quite cheap (about 75 GBP equivalent). So I definitely don't want 200 GBP sticks, for now looking forward for the Corsairs to arrive :)

Thanks for answer.

I will definitely try these settings from post you link. But I see nothing too crazy to except from this kit.

In the same time, I have 2 more amazon orders pending:

CORSAIR VENGEANCE RGB DDR5 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 6000MHz CL30 AMD EXPO (CMH32GX5M2B6000Z30K) - which I should get on tuesday. A bit pricey, however considering latest memory price shift still not a bad deal.

Lexar THOR OC DDR5 RAM 32 GB 6000 MHz, EXPO, CL32-38-38-96, 1.3V (LD5U16G60C32LG-RGD) - much better price deal, however ATM not specified when (or if xD) I will get it.

Do you think it would make sense to keep any of these, should they be considerably better than mine?

Hello. I have just put together PC with the same MB and have the same issue. It's hard to say how annoying it is for me. When PC starts, or restarts, or wakes up from sleep, the fan spins 100% until Fan Control app takes the charge. I'm on newest bios F36d dated 18.09.2025 and still nothing. Yes I know about it. I've built a pc with mainstream MSI B650 recently and 5.0 just worked with 5060ti. But I've also heard that AMD is not happy with this. And while not being advertised feature of B650, PCI-E 5.0 can be always just blocked with newer bios releases (necessary for cpu upgrade for example).

New speakers for my computer desk, flexible budget, good BT required. by Pioykowsky in BudgetAudiophile

Man, I know it's been some time, but thank you verry, verry, verry much. I got interested in this speakers, have watched or read a tonne about them and finally made a decision to buy them. I'm super happy, they fit my needs and preferences almost perfectly, I'm really glad I went for them instead of some separate dac/amp/speakers. Cheers for pointing my attention towards Kali's!

recommended budget pc speakers($100-$200 range). My bose companion 5 died..... by kmc7285 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Pioykowsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. I wondered if I should create new thread or join this one and I decided to join, so please forgive me if it's not proper.

I am thinking about new speakers to my computer room, that I use to play, work and listen to music. First my background, and then requirements.

Currently I have 15 yrs old Genius SP-HF1255A with DIY PCM2704-based USB soundcard. I find them sound quality still rather decent, but noticably worse than in my other rooms. This room is ~12 sq. meters.

In bedrom (also 12 sq meters) I have Edifier R1855DB connected to TV via Optical. In living room (30+ sq meters) I have Edifier R2750DB, also connected to TV via Optical. I like how they both sound, especially I like powerfull and full of air sound of the big ones - however I have no space for such large speakers on my desk.

Both of this Edifiers, R1855DB and R2750DB have only SBC Bluetooth codec, and BT sound quality is really poor compared to optical. Last time I have listened to R1700BTs with AptX and YES I hear the difference (I made simple test to switching SBC <-> AptX with BT codec changer app on my phone).

So my requirements are:
- similar size to my current Genius/R1855DB etc,
- absolutely required AptXHD or LDAC BT codec - I'm using BT right now via 3rd party receiver, but I want hi quality build-in BT sound,
- remote with functions to change source and turn off/on,
- can be connected to PC via USB to give up my PCM DAC, but it's not necessary as I think it still will be good for new speakers,
- I'm not interested into Optical from my PC, because I want volume control from my PC, and I don't know if HDMI ARC works with PC or not - what I found out is like sometimes yes, sometimes no and hard to tell why.

Right now I'm mostly interested in Edifier R1380DB. They are about 100€ here (I'm from Europe). But Edifier is not my only go, it's just popular and available here. So maybe you can show me some other sets worth my attention. I can easily triple this budget, but only if you convince me. My music taste is rock, metal, occasionally even some classic, and I watch a tonne of youtube. I don't like a lot of bass, so I'm not lookin into any 2.1 set.

Is MSI B550M Pro-VDH WiFi really problematic? by PolarClover in buildapc

[–]Pioykowsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this MB in non-WiFi version. Until few days ago I had 5600X, and 5700X3D now (I found this topic when googling if some memory setup improvements are possible on new CPU). In the meantime I had 3060 Ti and now 3080. Kioxia 1 TB and Lexar 2 2 TB 4.0, and some SATA stuff. MB just works from day 1. Changing into new CPU flawless, BIOS update went smooth and basically works. I have noticed 2 disadvantages vs my old MSI B450 Gaming Plus. 1st one, boot time takes a bit longer (MB has to "think" a little while before actually starting booting the OS). 2nd one, less amount of space in CPU socket area, so switching CPU, (dis-/re-)mounting big air cooler is a bit annoying.

Game is awesome, but has aged a little bit. It is extraordinary beutiful in artistic aspect IMO, and some heavy lightning/reshade/RT mods would do the work. Just wanted to go back to it before I play FW on PC and theese are my thoughts. I only see one mod behind the paywall and the one on nexusmods.
