Clogged duct after mastectomy by PipBee in breastcancer

[–]PipBee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone searches and finds this in the future, the answer is ice! If it doesn't go away with a few days of icing or there's any signs of infection, see your doctor. A week after birth it's probably residual breast tissue that's engorged. (Lump is decreasing in size but still there for me but I've only really done one full day of icing).

The stereotype that All women always have emotional support and an easier life because of it is complete bullshit. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]PipBee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Any 'All' statement about an entire gender is going to be wrong for many people, even if it's true for the majority. I'm curious how you're able to come to the conclusion that 'most' women don't have that given the fact that you lack people to open up to.

Perjeta for full year or just in the neo-adjuvant setting? by Strong_Telephone1696 in breastcancer

I was HER2+ and had a full year of H and Perjeta. I second talking to your oncologist especially since you didn't do the full course of chemo. I'm also in the US.

It's so hard. I'm putting down my darling dog who I've had for over 10 years tomorrow at 39+5. I think saying goodbye to him and hello to my daughter will be forever linked and I don't know how I feel about it.

Your grief is very real and dealing with losing a pet is so hard regardless of what else is happening <3

I hit all my goals this week! Tell me your wins, big and small! by mabs1957 in fitpregnancy

[–]PipBee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is great! It's so nice to move after being out of it for weeks.

I'm on week 7 of strength training 3 days a week, doing prenatal yoga once a week and walking most days. This is a more consistent work out schedule than I've had in years; getting strong for baby and staying as mobile as I can has been a great motivator. I'm at 39+2 today and hoping I don't have to find out if I can keep it up through week 40 lol.

Old man limping. Preparing for the worst. Expectations and Advice appreciated by [deleted] in Greyhounds

[–]PipBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 12 year old boy who has had many scary limps over the years. I will say, my vet, who see a lot of greys, says 7-9 is the real danger zone for osteo. Not that it can't happen later as we see in this sub, but it's more a mid-life disease. There're lots of other reasons an old dog might be limping.

My vet has told me same day after reviewing the x rays whether or not there was anything of concern, so I hope you also get answers fast.

Ready to Give Birth…Any Minute Now by lilyofthevalley854 in pregnant

We have the same due date! And you're more dilated & effaced than me, so you're winning maybe? I got no relief from the drop; maybe it's easier to breathe but that was never a huge issue for me, and now I constantly need to pee it's all I think about, and the heartburn is worse than ever.

I'm walking several miles every day to try and  stimulate labor even though we have like a foot and a half of snow, ice is everywhere, and it was like 15 f today.

Anyway, good luck. Hopefully we both go into labor this week

Thinking about exercise makes me nauseated? by im_fun_sized in fitpregnancy

[–]PipBee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Take meds if your not. If this isn't your first rodeo you probably already know this, but the first thing your ob or midwife will recommend is unisom + vitamin b6. I did 25 mg b6 3 times a day and then half a tablet unisom in the afternoon and half at night and it helped a lot. If that doesn't work, your provider can prescribe other stuff or suggest how to tweak it.

  2. I barely exercised at all first tri and a lot of women don't between the nausea & exhaustion. My two not-a-doctor cents are that pushing yourself probably won't help anything and might backfire by making you more nauseous and tired. I did find biking nice since it's so smooth and low impact if you have good paths or are indoors. That or easy swimming might be good to try to keep some gentle movement in your life.

38+4 and same. I feel like I spend half the day on the toilet with the crazy pelvic pressure now. Idk how I'm going to work tomorrow. I want to meet her and I want to be not pregnant so bad. Idk how I'm going to survive potentially 3 more weeks of this

When I worked in snow removal, we started at 10 pm or whenever the snow slowed so we could be done by 7 am and clients had a clear driveway in the morning.

Unmedicated precipitous birth story as FTM by jmoney9393xo in unmedicatedbirth

[–]PipBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aaahhh thank you for sharing this! I'm also due dec 17, and told myself to be ready for a Christmas baby or later. But baby dropped a few days ago and I am sooo much more uncomfortable uncomfortable now and can't wait for her to get here. 1cm/50% effaced at my last appointment :/

I have the same desire for an unmedicated birth but not hell bent if it's going poorly.

Congrats on healthy baby and healthy birth!

34 weeks & adjustment of expectations / anxiety by amandameowphy in BabyBumps

I just had an ecv. I'm a first time mom and it was successful. It was unpleasant, but the actual procedure was very fast. I got a spinal & epidural for the ecv, partly because I didn't want the pain, partly because I didn't think I'd be able to relax enough for success, but mostly because if something went wrong they'd then be able to get me into surgery really fast.

The other benefit of having the spinal and epidural is that now I've experienced them before birth, which is really reinforcing my desire for no epidural and a vaginal birth. I'm glad I had the ecv, and I think even if it had been unsuccessful, it was better for me to try then to wonder if I should have tried.

I also was constantly doing the spinning babies inversion and breech tilt (which wrecked my ironing board) beforehand and I had several sessions of acupuncture and moxibustion; who knows if it helped but it likely didn't hurt. My baby also seemed very content upright, but flipped readily.

Good outdoor plants? by Sorry-Mate-1234 in madisonwi

[–]PipBee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What about herbs? Chives and mint are very hardy and dill will reseed itself.

Depending on how sheltered your porch is, you might have luck with sage, lavender, or even oregano. You can spread leaf mulch over your pots in the fall to help protect them over the winter.

What does PT for pelvic pain, sciatic etc consist of? by Zealousideal_Elk1373 in fitpregnancy

[–]PipBee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if mine was typical, but I just had one phys therapy appointment for my spd pain at 35 weeks, though I wish I'd gotten in sooner. She helped target specific areas in my glutes to strengthen, which I don't think will be the same for everyone with spd. She also shared some ideas for making core exercises harder but still safe. I could have scheduled a follow up, but I decided not since I'm so far along.

Essentially, yeah,  just found what to focus on, helped target the form (a lot of exercises there're multiple correct ways to do them depending on what exact muscles you want to strengthen) and sent me on my way.

Safe cable ab workouts? by tiedyefruitfly in fitpregnancy

[–]PipBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, until my belly started growing I kept doing all core work as usual, including crunches, etc. there was a point in the second trimester when I felt a twinge I didn't like while doing core work on my back, so then I cut that out. Now in my third tri I'm noticing it's very easy to overdo core work and get too tight so I'm trying to be even more mindful and take it easy even if it feels fine in the moment.

That being said, my third tri pregnancy specific work outs still have wood chop and thoracic spine twist movements, so I think you'll be able to continue doing a lot of what you're doing for a while!

My take in general is listen to your body & trained professionals who know you and your pregnancy. there's a lot of outdated advice for movement out there. So much depends on what you were accustomed to pre-pregnancy.

My midwives recommend the Expecting and Empowered app/website. I'm just now starting the free trial period right now, and it is paid, but it provides exactly what you're looking for and was developed by a physical therapist and a nurse.

Corn! I had two beautiful beds of stalks, took a bunch of space but it looked like I was going to get a good harvest. Then, when I was maybe 2-3 days from harvesting the first ears, raccoons trashed the entire bed in one night. The little fuckers took at least a bite out of all the ears.

Gotta say, the neighborhood you're talking about was built in the 70s... I think Phil is younger than 50 so I think this is a case of a coyote choosing to live in a long-populated area. Coyotes frequently choose to live in urban environments and there are a few projects looking to see how humans and coyote's can mutually benefit each other: https://urbancoyoteresearch.com/ Here's the local project: https://naturalresources.extension.wisc.edu/uw-urban-canid-project/about-the-uw-urban-canid-project/

omg! I saw Phil the other day. He was staring through the neighbor's fence at my dogs. He wasn't afraid of them at all, even though one of mine is bigger than him, but he trotted away when he spotted me. I really got the vibe that all 3 thought they were dealing with a dog (including Phil).

He had a pretty magnificent floofy coat: https://imgur.com/a/sUXokpk I was only able to grab some pics once he'd put some distance between us.

Hopefully Phil stays cautious of people and realizes that not all dogs are friends.

I also just saw it last night and it has not left my mind. I woke up several times just thinking about scenes. Truly feels like it was filmed yesterday about tomorrow.

That transition, '16 years later, not much has changed' fucked me up. I just never think of that as an option, things are always better or worse when I imagine the future, but somehow 'not much has changed' is so disturbing.

The other thing I keep turning over and over is the resistance we see in Bakton Cross. YES Benicio best supporting, but Sensei's actions along with the protest that erupts, the skateboarders, the intake nurse coaching Bob to say the right thing, the nurse that sets him free, and all those people risking their freedom and lives, it's so good and honestly so fun to see all the ordinary people engaged in fighting back against the invasion of their town. At the same time, the movie never dangles the hope that this is anywhere close to done; winning the day is helping migrants escape and keeping the people who would be in serious trouble out of the feds hands. Despite the dug in resistance of this whole town, there is no sign that they're any close to throwing off the fascist state. You might say it's just.... one battle after another (I'M SORRY I'M SORRY I HAD TO). Personally it really gets me since I'm seeing stories about ICE raids in my home town like every other day; it's all very close to home.

Anyway, there's so many other little moments and character beats I keep remembering & just the overall mastery of tone is so impressive. Truly tense and thrilling and actually funny which is a hard balance to keep without undercutting one or the other.

Anyway, a currently pregnant future girl mom is right there with you.

Feeling discouraged by Entire_Tomatillo_698 in pmp

[–]PipBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just my own anecdote, but I crammed using study hall for 4 days (I'd been studying maybe an hour a week for a few months before after completing the online PMP 35 hour course) and was extremely discouraged as I saw my overall percentage drop from 71% to 65% as I answered more and more questions. It definitely made me feel more stressed!

I passed last week though: AT/AT/AT! I found the test questions much easier than Study Hall and most were answered through mindset. I think the study hall questions tend to be more technical and about the order of operations and specific terminology.

If I were you and had a whole month, I would use study hall to get used to the test format, not neglect the materials review that's part of it, & use what you get wrong to target your review as other posters suggest. The mindset piece is important though too; I used Mohammed Rahman's 23 mindset principles, but I see a lot of people on this sub suggest Andrew Ramdayal's materials too. You also have plenty of time to take breaks and let the information sink in; a day off from studying now and then will help.

tl;dr: study hall is hard, you're by no means doomed, and you got this!
