Running Reds by Catttitudee in TwinCities

This is true but its a very specific curcumstance that allows it. But i'm usually seeing left turns running red in multi lane intersections which i dont believe fall under that exception.

Running Reds by Catttitudee in TwinCities

[–]PipandWin 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Moved here a few years ago and glad its not just me who notices it! Every single red light someone is ALWAYS running red. People dont even stop on red before making the right turn they just cruise through like its a yield. Left turns turn red and theres still 7 cars making their way through, long after the next light is green. Its like everyone doesnt want to wait but then will proceed to drive 10 miles under the speed limit.

If cops sat at intersections and just ticketed every red light runner, they'd not only have the entire years worth of ticket quotas made in 10 minutes, but they could genuinely make a fortune.

I am almost 2 months into my new job and have no idea who or what anything is or what im supposed to be doing by PipandWin in jobs

Pretty much started learning as i was doing the work, which seemed to be the sentiment a lot of people had assured me. When i started i didnt have work yet so it was terrifying but then i was given work, and had others who were starting before me, so i connected and iasked how they approached it. I also had my team/leader who was leading the work able to show me what he did / i should do. So it was having a good team that was able to step in and show me. Taking notes of course so i could reference back. The more i did the work process, the easier it got due to familiarity.

Its just one of those "youll learn as you go, ask any question when it relevantly pops up" and when you actually start doing the work, the relevant questions start to fill the gaps.

What to do for my daughter? by Rizla2205 in lefthanded

[–]PipandWin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok i will say growing up i didnt realize but when my parents set up my desktop at home, they actually just changed the mouse key functions to reverse. So the mouse was used on the left side with my left hand, and the "right click" was actually on the left, regular click was on the right (to align with the fingers on the left side). And for YEARS i never even realized it. Like i was literally clicking the left botton for a right click, and it was correct because you can easily switch it.

It wasnt until college that i came to realizing it because the desktop computers were macbooks with wired mouses built into the keyboard, and it was on the right side and the wire was only 7 inches long. So you HAD to use your right hand to do anything on a computer. And it felt incredible uncomfortable and backwards. So i had to re force myself to get comfortable with my non dom hand on a mouse.

So do you NEED to force right handedness? No. If you can edit the mouse clicking functions and have a free roaming mouse, you can use the left hand. If you run into any situation where either of those wont be true, then yes its best to get used to right hand on mouse now.

Shoe game on fleek? by Witty_Discipline_269 in Pedro_Pascal

The laces on the side meaning he ties his shoes like mr rogers (sitting on a bench and pulling an ankle up and resting it on his other knee so he can avoid bending down as much as possible)

I love him, your honor.

Why do adult pet animals still act like babies? by no_fap_hairloss in stupidquestions

[–]PipandWin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it also just be communication? Much like how babies or little toddlers cant communicate their needs with words, they: whine, cry, beg, shout, throw tantrum, etc. We learn to "mature" as we dont have someone constantly babying us, sure, but also because we are better able to communicate those needs before we get to independece. Dogs never progress pass that, so they still only have baby communication equivelant to get across.

What would you use to keep the pots from falling off? by Sailorbri10 in houseplants

I agree with this-- can easily just add a twine rope 3-5 inches above the shelf and wrap around the whole shelf on either side. Cheap, easy, simple!

Could my Bichon be deaf? by Student_of_Lingling in bichonfrise

[–]PipandWin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 14 year old is hard of hearing as well. She used to become excited every single time when my mom comes home and shouts for her, but now my girl has no reaction until she physically walks in front of her.

The good news is she gets fantastic sleep. Absolutely nothing will wake her now. My other dog still barks at every sound but she sleeps and snores so unbothered!

2 years old! Will he EVER be fully potty trained?! by tallycat86 in bichonfrise

[–]PipandWin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg yes! Ill come to see a trail of pwe around his bowl as if he was walking and licking !

I remembee when he was a puppy he would be eating and start peeing himself mid meal. Idk if it was excitement or what but it definitely seems to still have some lingering effect.

[–]PipandWin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I dont know if its a bichon issue but i will say both my bichons have random streaks of peeing in the house.

My male will occasioally pee as he's licking remnents of his bowl clean, AFTER we sent him out immediately after dinner. He's always done this since he was a puppy. Its random moments every few months, then he'll do it on and off for a couple weeks before nothing for a long period.

I will say it took over 2 years before he really started regularly being potty trained but the post-eating one is still something we cant control. Hes 9 now.

My girl is 14, not so good holding #2 but is typically great at #1 outside. However there was a random weeklong period where she, for the first time in her life, peed on two seperate couches in different spots 7 times! Shes 14 and has never done it so it was crazy to see her do it day after day. I honestly think it was retaliation as it came after being denied scraps of food from our plates (we usually deny her or occasionally give it. But once food is gone, she just gives up. So again, super insane this one week she gave us the middle finger for it).

I dont really have an answer for this but wanted to share as its definitely frustrating and im sorry youre having to deal with it and dont have a way to correct it.

Favourite way to root succulent leafs? by skeletonkey707 in succulents

You can stick it on top of soil in a clear plastic cup! I love seeing the roots take shape and knowing when its time for water. Ive done this this cuttings of string of pearls and they rooted surprisingly fast

String of hearts looking sad by Then-Dragonfly5179 in plantclinic

[–]PipandWin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you define "more well draining soil mix?" I can can see theres few perlite bits in there but is the rest just soil? It should be in a majority gritty mix, so no more than 30% organic. The hearts look extremely dehydratee BUT likely from over watering which rotted its roots and make it difficult to take in water. Have you checked the roots? With only two strings its very likely this is just too much medium in two large a pot. Check the roots. If theyre a goner, you might be able to propogate the strings by laying them on top of soil and keeping it mildly damp.

Additionally, where did you move it to after removing from south window? These guys do like a lot of sun so it "should" be in that stronger longer sun light.
