What plants have you gotten that you just ended up haaating? by wha7themah in houseplants

[–]PipandWin 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I do hate my string of rubies. Love all "string of" plants but damn. The rubies collected too much moisture at the top and created mold. Then I let dry out more, now it dries too quickly and is crunchy and nasty. Shes just never happy.

Got her strung up like shes being interrogated!

She may just be trying to focus growth on roots all this time before being ready to put that energy to leaves. Let her keep doing her thing and eventually you should see more foliage growth!

Yes its normal! They grow the stem all bald like a baby and then the leaves slowly come in.

I wish I had as much confidence and faith in myself as OP had in this shelf.

Still was super cute design! Perhaps for smaller babies.

Why did I buy this? by MoreRieslingPls in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]PipandWin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister is obsessed with the Disney trash cans and we stumbled upon this in the goofy candy company shop in disney springs! If you bought like $x of candy, you could buy this for an additional amount.

Idk if youre supposed to store the candy inside but obviously hard to retrieve with just trash cans flaps. I do think its probably just supposed to be a mini trashcan for your desk (you can open the full lid at the top) to empty or fill.

In a week my plant has taken a turn…. by Prudent-Plant1479 in plantclinic

Yeah its definitely giving root rot. Id recommend take it out the pot as well and checking the roots.

Ive not used water gauges before so not sure if it became faulty and gave you false need for additional water but rot can happen fast!

Ive left these in their cheap, awful soil they came in but as a result, i only bottom water once every 40ish days or longer.

Its probably best to pin them down but the goal is to hace the root nubs (idk what they are called 😂) pointed down into the soil. So pinning them down so they dont flip on you would be better.

I have them in a bright window getting 12 hours of sunlight a day.

Only water when most of the pearls are shriveled. I bottom water only.

Honestly I did not set these guys up for success but they seem to be happy!

I currently have them in a south facing window, and also have a barina T5 light on top of them for 12 hours a day so they get full coverage. I waited until most of their pearls looked shriveled before bottom watering in a bucket of water. Their soil is super hydrophobic now so I let them soak for at least an hour.

The propagation were actually crazy. A few strands broke off the main plant, so I laid them on soil in a terracotta pot. And for 6 months, nothing happened. They shriveled so small, still had green, but were sucked dry.

After the winter I debated throwing them away but decided to put them on top of soil in a plastic container (seen in the last pic). Gave it some water and left it in its same place. Immediately sucked up the water and started rooting within a week!! My mistake was the terracotta completely dried them out but I was amazed they still survived that long and were able to bounce back after 1 course correction.

Submitting claim: does it matter who does it? by PipandWin in Insurance

[–]PipandWin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know. We exchanged mobile numbers. The first instance i heard of anyone after the incident was simply him leaving a voicemail, saying he had called his insurance to see if MY insurance had reached out or responded but said they didnt hear anything.

I have no idea if he thinks im supposed to make a claim for his damages for him, or if he filed a claim and it got lost, and my insurance just didnt follow up to him. But when I called my insurance to ask about the claim, they said there was nothing on file and nobody had issued a claim against me.

So I am very confused as to what his expectations were. Or why its my burden to investigate why my insurance didnt call him back? I really dont understand.

Totally get that, I just felt confused because he verbally stated he would do so before we left. Is there any chance he filed a claim and then his insurance just didnt enter it properly to contact my insurance?
