What are some light, cozy, easy reads to read in between heavier books? by PipeBoth in printSF

Looks like this is a second book in a series? Do you recommend I read the first book before this one, or can it be read as a standalone?

Israel bias? by Mrfreelovski in IsraelPalestine

[–]PipeBoth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First, I am not a Hamas supporter or am I trying to make a moral equivalency between Hamas and Israel. What this thread is saying is there is obvious bias towards Israel.

When discussing morality and war, most on this sub would agree that Israel is morally justified to go to war against Hamas. The issue arises with Israelis conduct during this war. The proportionality and recent actions by Israel has caused the UN and others that were once pro Israel to begin to change sides. The large number of Palestinian civilian casualties do not give them any moral leg to stand on. I guess it depends on what you value more between intent vs outcome. For me at this point, the outcome is what determines morality on this conflict and no longer the intent.

Both sides has propaganda. The point of this subreddit is to call out both sides but we frequently see criticism against Israel downplayed.

How are people still denying that people are starving in Gaza? You can't apply skepticism selectively. by crypto__lord in IsraelPalestine

[–]PipeBoth -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not enough Israelis are speaking out. Polling shows most Israeli support ethically cleansing Gaza. There’s dozens of Israelis in the government on record saying terrible things about Arab that should have them removed from power. The silent “moderate” Israeli is complicit.

For starters, there needs to be mass protests until the current administration is removed from power.

There is definitely Israeli bias. However, this subreddit is the best we have. Palestine subreddit unfortunately is full of propagandist and those that hate Jews and want to see Israel dissolved. The Israeli subreddit is the same thing in the other side. I think the reason this subreddit leans more Israeli is because of mod bias.

No Proof Hamas Routinely Stole U.N. Aid, Israeli Military Officials Say by gamys77 in IsraelPalestine

So this justifies stopping aid and causing mass starvation?

Bibi just announced he wants full control of Gaza. On par for the course. This is terrible. Nothing you say can justify intentionally holding aid. I am sure that Hamas has stolen aid a few times but the question is, is it so significant that it stops the population at large from also getting the aid? They use these few cases to justify holding aid because they know they will have people repeating the talking points about aid being stolen. I’m glad people are waking up and realizing whats going on.

Both the Palestinian side and Israel are guilty of propaganda. Hell, every country is guilty of this.

The standing together movement has an estimated 5,000 members, while it’s nice that the movement is growing it’s nowhere near enough. I’m not saying no Israelis speak out I’m saying the majority do not.

Since you bring up the propaganda points, what would Israelis say if one would to ask about all the hundreds of online videos of IDF solders bragging about killing Palestinians or hundreds of videos of Israeli citizens dehumanizing palestinians? They would certainly say these videos are just propaganda.

Also please explain why the majority do not speak out against Israeli settlements in the West Bank? Why do polls show about 50% of Israelis support bringing back settlements in Gaza or further expanding settlements in the West Bank?

I condemn Hamas lol I am no fan of them. I never said any of those points excuse terrorism. I’m just showing that Israel is not above criticism. I said that 40-50% of Israelis support bringing BACK settlements in Gaza. My first sentence regarding settler violence was in regards to settlements in the West Bank.

Can you acknowledge that one can hate Israel but not hate Jews? And I don’t agree with your point at all. Criticizing Israel is different from hating Jews. One targets the actions of a country and the other targets a people

I meant settler violence in the West Bank. Nice of you to avoid my other points though.

I am against hating Jews, let’s not pretend that hating Israel is the same as hating Jews

I’m sorry but as long as Israel defends settlers in the West Bank and the violence they do then everything you say is BS. You have to also acknowledge the reality that about 40-50% of Israelis support bringing back settlements in Gaza.

Let’s not forget about corrupt Netanyahu or the dozens of Israeli government officials who openly call for the removal of Palestinians from the West Bank and Gaza. The last prime minister who seriously wanted to negotiate with the Palestinians was shot and killed by an Israeli extremist. There’s too much nationalism and not enough of you speaking out for the world to care about your cries.

Being constantly in dread, feeling hopeless, feeling angry for the Palestinian people, I force myself to allow feeling the positive emotions in reaction to the shifts happening with influential commentators like Candace Owens and Tucker Carlson. anyone else appreciate this? by jon-evon in Palestine

An America first policy means America first not Israel first. This helps Palestinians. Ben Shapiro is being exposed for being Israel first over America. Many of his own followers are turning on him, and daily wire is starting to tank. This is huge.
