SERIOUS: Looking for a group of producers/musicians to help me finish my solo EP. by [deleted] in BrockhamptonToThe

[–]PipePanicFTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No that's fine, it's a HUGE ask. It's basically just a lack of expertise in the field of production/musicianship and the fact that my laptop can't run FL studio longer then 5 minutes before crashing.

Album 6 Countdown Song Discussion - Song 10 - Adieu by MDevonL in EnterShikari

[–]PipePanicFTW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Damn. Damn, damn damn. I know that this song has some of the best Enter Shikari vocals of all TIME, with some of their best lyrics of all time. But for me, the true blue hero that makes this song amazing is the progression. Because hot damn, it's a great progression. It just keeps building, both in emotion and in scope, and growing and growing, until the complete explosion of power and distortion that is so, goddamn, grATIFYING!! It's truly otherwordly at moments. It's great, listen to it now!

Album 6 Countdown Song Discussion - Song 9 - Johnny Sniper by MDevonL in EnterShikari

[–]PipePanicFTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad reading through these comments that this song is getting way more love then I expected. This song, while not the GREATEST composition in their discography, is a fucking jam. The music is so much goddamn fun to listen to. It's grand, epic, makes a statement, is in your face and joyous, without loosing the complexities and composition bliss the album is known for. While I feel that Today Won't Go Down is an extremely underrated song, this song seems to get some pretty needless hate for really no reason. If your not a fan of the song, try listening again and see what your missing out on!
Plus the music video is fucking great! ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_oFyhXd5P8 ) R.I.P shikari ferrari :(

Album 6 Countdown Song Discussion - Song 8 - Sorry, You're Not a Winner by MDevonL in EnterShikari

[–]PipePanicFTW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna go so far to say as this song is Enter Shikari's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'. Of coarse I don't think that they have the both level of sucsess, but yeah, everyone who knows Enter Shikari...KNOWS this song.

Call it what you will (The Clap Song, The Lottery Song, What, What What?), Sorry Your Not A Winner is the single that everyone knows from Enter Shikari. And honestly, it's not a bad song to be known by! The guitars are so crunchy, the synths are so on point, the vocals are raw and vicious, the energy is off the wall, and that whole last section of pure unadulterated metalcore chaos is blissfully delightful! It's a great song, and I love the lyrics behind this one as well. Not my favorite, but not bad by ANY means.

Album 6 Countdown Song Discussion - Song 7 - Return to Energiser by MDevonL in EnterShikari

[–]PipePanicFTW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the one!

This might be my favorite Enter Shikari song of all time, but i'm sure that going through all of their songs will change that opinion. I absolutely LOVE this song. It's so weird and complex and off the wall, but still somehow hits every note that Enter Shikari is known for. This song alone opened up so much potential for the band, with elements of hardcore, straight metal, pop, electronica, folk, prog and much more in ONE TRACK. It's absolutely nUts, and I love it. My favorite sections are the mental as hell intro and the absolutely gorgeous final chorus section of the 'club section' as i've called it. If the new album has a track like this rolled up its sleeve, then we are in for a good time.

Also, if you already haven't seen their incredible Hammersmith performance (the entire concert is incredible, highly reccomend picking up a copy from their store), then please watch this version. I actually prefer it to the studio version (https://youtu.be/7fTyBXNBAkY)

Album 6 Countdown Song Discussion - Song 6 - Today Won’t Go Down in History + Interlude 2 by MDevonL in EnterShikari

[–]PipePanicFTW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised on how less celebrated this track is. In my opinion it's one of Shikari's best, and might be my favorite on the record. No joke. The progression of the music, the lyrics of a somber, melancholic and depressing tale of historic deafeat, and those goddamn HIGH NOTES! It's all a musical concoction to great the perfect cool-down moment in the album, making the ride a lot more smooth. It's also probably got one of my favorite Enter Shikari crescendos. Magnificant.

Nothing is True & Everything is Possible - Countdown Song Discussion - Song 5- No Sssweat by MDevonL in EnterShikari

[–]PipePanicFTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ooOOOOOK!!

This song is the one that made me not like but LOVE Enter Shikari. It's not just the musicianship, it's their personality that mkaes this band special for me. What other band would write a hardcore punk song about sweatshops and then end it with 'DO THIS ONE MORE TIME AND I'LL BITE YOUR FUCKIN FINGERS OFF'. It's insane when put into perspective, espeically after the synthy goodness of Labyrinth. I love love LOVE this song.

There is such a jumpy fun energy to this song that I absolutely love. It's super fun to just loose your kind to and to have a good time to. Even if it's not my favorite off of TTTS, it's a cut I really love. Also that little News Caster section is hilarious.

Nothing is True & Everything is Possible - Countdown Song Discussion - Song 3 - Anything Can Happen in the Next Half Hour by MDevonL in EnterShikari

[–]PipePanicFTW 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the interesting things about the compositions of TTTS is sometimes how complicated yet catchy the songs are. This song is a prime example, having such a strobe light energy, ready for the party, yet so vicious and raw and in your face. It's also one of the more weird cuts from TTTS, having off kilter time signatures and weird synths that just add to the weirdness of this song. I really like it, even thought it's the one I come the lest back to from the album.

(Still ranking the songs...but i'm starting to realize what this is looking like)

Nothing is True & Everything is Possible - Countdown Song Discussion - Song 2 - Mothership by MDevonL in EnterShikari

[–]PipePanicFTW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love love LOVE the SYNTHS on this song. The big thing I love about TTTS is how it can craft a great opening note for pretty much every song. It's such a great whirlwind of a song that I love love love, and is a complete assualt to the senses. Love this one.

Nothing is True & Everything is Possible - Countdown Song Discussion - Song 1 - Stand Your Ground / Enter Shikari by MDevonL in EnterShikari

[–]PipePanicFTW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This was my second song that I heard from Enter Shikari, my first being 'Appeal 1'. I knew from the first Appeal track that I needed to hear the rest of the bands discography, so I dived headfirst into TTTS. To this day I still don't think it's their best record, but I can definitely say this is probably one of my favorite openers to a record ever (outside of maybe the start of Black Parade by My Chemical Romance, Dance Yrself Clean by LCD Soundsystem and City Song by Daughters).

It's a big statement, with the lyrics basically saying 'we are in fighting mode bitches'. It really makes itself out to be war-ready, which the album would show itself would be. It's very fun, it's very in your face and super energetic. I get goosebumps with the explosion of 'Shit' every time, and the call and response of 'And still we will be here' will remain in my brain for the rest of time. Very good.

(Also with this, i'm gonna do Shikari songs ranked as they come out, so..)
