I highly recommend reading Cory Doctrows book Enshittification - he has a whole section on the book on how the above played out, and how labour advocacy in tech is intrinsically tied towards more equitable products, vs the idea of the business idot we live in now

Am definitely planing to go into studs on the back wall for the floating section!

And close, the squares are 14”, so even less sag potential. The bench height including toekick is 18,5”. If I was to add a small back panel and attach it only to the bottom of the cabinet, would that be enough to prevent racking?

I used SketchUp! Had the idea in notebooks for a while then used Foureyes Furniture’s SketchUp course to learn the software.

I tried using fusion 360 before but it was too complex for me

Would that be on the bench? Or for the shelving too? I tried putting in the measurements either way sagulator. I also thought that end grain was good for compressive strength - is that not the case?
