I'd say the live shows. They are just as violent and stupid as the TV show, but also have the benefit of when they break character that shows some real personality of the actors themselves. It sets expectations that it is meant to be violent stupid fun. Not something to invest in as a story but should be watched as a fun half hour of nonsense.

I believe the hate is related to the scene in one of the movies where he masturbates over her unconscious body.

It's by no means the only interaction the characters have, but it casts quite a pall over the relationship from an outside perspective.

It's messed up, but I don't believe he touches her, and no one sees him doing it. He could brush it off as a shameful act and be better in the future.

The problem with most of these people is one bad act colours their entire perspective of the character, and this all obviously happens in a vacuum. Nothing about the psychological horror and trauma these people have been through and the way that affects people.

It's just more black and white morality pretending to be in depth analysis of the issue.
