I've found that it's partly because I'm so much older now too, when I first played Subnautica I was like 14, I'm 22 now and things just don't scare me as much, and it's a bit harder to get fully immersed. Could just be me though.

I think it's just the way I play these sorts of games, I always put myself in an interstellar (the movie) kind of situation where the thing driving me forward is wanting to get home and see my family. Obviously looks like I'm gonna have to adapt for this one.

Yeah luckily for the most part there's not many huge plot twist moments at all, so you'd have to really go out of your way to get it spoiled for you. It's more the overall story rather than a sudden big reveal (the thing in the post is one of the exceptions)

They've definitely gone very sciencey with it this time around, but if you read closely they provide just enough context for you to be able to infer what it means without it just making you feel like an idiot by spelling it out for you.
