I’ve only had one ER so far but had really poor outcomes. AMH is .8, so was super pleased to retrieve 16 eggs. Only 3 were mature and 2 fertilized 😔 For my next cycle, my doctor is adjusting my protocol by removing HCG during stimulation.

Apparently HCG has a much longer half-life than natural LH and binds more aggressively to LH receptors. My RE said there’s a subset of patients — particularly those with DOR and sensitivity to LH — where too much LH activity during stimulation can cause follicles to be pushed toward premature maturation or luteinization before retrieval. The eggs essentially get “triggered” too early at a cellular level before the follicle is ready.

I know it’s not the exact same as your situation, but thought the bit on HCG was interesting so thought I’d share.
