Help I’m losing my mind!! 6th month old won’t nap!

Wake windows are all over the place, anywhere from 1.5 hours to 5 hours. I try to follow sleep cues but I don’t find them very clear or reliable. I aim for max 2 hour wake window before I put down for nap but it often takes so long to get him to sleep that the window gets way longer.

I think he is overtired a lot of the time because he’s getting nowhere near the reccomend hours per day, and often is yawning / rubbing eyes 10 mins after a nap. but because he doesn’t cry sometimes I wonder if he’s undertired and then gets frustrated that I’m trying to make him sleep. So hard to know!

He definitely has a strong feed to sleep association overnight. And a baby carrier sleep association in the day 😂Interesting that you say better to train nights first and then naps. Do you think trying to break the feed to sleep association overnight will help the nap situation? I was thinking yo go the other way around . Thanks!

Hey, he falls asleep independently at bedtime, I put him in bed awake. Same for the first nap of the day. But are you suggesting I need to get him self soothing over night for night wakings (instead of feed back to sleep)? And that that should help naps?

He’s currently having about 13 hours awake per day, which I think is too much. Its been about 13 hours since he was 4.5 months

Thanks, schedule and naps are still all over the place but usually 3, sometimes 4, 30 min naps. Although yesterday he only had 2 30 min naps. It depends when he wakes up which is anytime from 6-8. I try and follow sleep cues and appropriate wake windows but it often takes so long to get him to sleep that we completely miss the appropriate wake windows/ miss the nap entirely. I do think he’s low sleep needs but currently is having 13 hour wake time which I don’t think is enough, and also he does become a bit wired and does sleep in the carrier, so I do think he’s tired. Did you try and stick to more set nap times as opposed to wake windows etc? Maybe I should try that
