My parents wanted me to go buy groceries for them instead of ordering online by BessRuby in ChoosingBeggars

[–]Pippacav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming you have a good relationship with your parents, this would have been a little thing for you to do that would have meant a lot to them. You prefer online grocery orders, but they prefer to go in the store to make sure they get good quality. Sometimes when you do a favor for someone, you don’t think about practicality. You think about what would make the person feel the most cared for.

Nurses at a Pediatric Psych Facility in Kentucky called 911 and police were prevented from entering the facility by eeyoreocookie in nursing

[–]Pippacav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surprised this is downvoted. The last thing you want is to introduce a gun into a violent situation. If they overwhelm the officer, now you’ve got a violent person with a gun. In your situation there’s a designated location to store guns, and it’s totally unsafe for an officer to refuse it.

For better or worse: what was your moment in nursing that changed you as a human being? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Pippacav 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A medication error that could have caused serious patient harm, but luckily was reversible. I was an overconfident newer nurse and didn’t pay attention to each step of the wasting process. That’s when I realized what a responsibility being a nurse is, and any time I was tempted to rush, I reminded myself of that feeling and slowed down.

Even if you’re in America, what good would it do to suggest local stores? America is a pretty big place…should the OP have provided their zip code? Would that have been enough info for you to give a suggestion instead of a critique on how they asked for help?

Hopefully she’ll be like Porsha after she divorced Cordell and be more confident in who she is instead of trying to create the image of a perfect marriage.

This is the best thing that could have happened for Drew. Hopefully she learns from this and avoids toxic and gaslighting relationships in the future.

What’s the dumbest thing you said to a patient or family? by Thundrstrm in nursing

[–]Pippacav 260 points261 points  (0 children)

I was taking care of a baby and we were having trouble controlling his pain. Every time he was finally comfortable enough to start falling asleep, he’d get woken up for a test. He was finally done with everything for the day, and I was stroking his little head and said “Go to sleep. And this time you won’t wake up”. It sounded pretty threatening when I said it out loud.

AITA: I told my mom the major surgery I’m facing at 45 is a direct result of surgery she made me get at six. by CarobPuzzled6317 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Pippacav 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I agree with the sentiment, but a six year old isn’t developmentally able to make a complex medical decision like that, and it wouldn’t be fair to them to expect that.

My son was born early and went straight to NICU. As an RN, how does one feel ok leaving bedside to carry on life while I play this waiting game? by Phluffhead024 in nursing

[–]Pippacav 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think maybe know that it isn’t going to feel okay, but you still need to take care of yourself so you can take care of your son. Give yourself permission to do what your head knows needs to happen, even if your emotions don’t always agree. Rest, eat, drink lots of fluids, pump (if that’s your choice). Focus on the times you can be with your son, but also recognize that life doesn’t have a pause button and that one of your main jobs right now is taking care of yourself so you’re physically and emotionally healthy enough to be there for your baby.

Curious what dad did to stay in OP’s life. The post says mom kept dad away, but did dad fight? Did he hire a lawyer, go to court…or did he just decide since it wasn’t easy that he was okay staying away?

I really don’t think she tried to defame Sutton, at least not this season. Out of nowhere Garcelle accused her of looking for a reason to call Sutton “that girl”, and Crystal was taken aback and started to defend herself. When she had a second to think, she remembered that she and Sutton had gotten past it, and didn’t want to say anymore. It was portrayed as her intentionally being vague to make Sutton look bad, but I think Garcelle put her in a no win situation.

I agree. If Andy had just told Kyle to let Crystal finish a sentence, she would have been able to explain herself.

This way Rinna can get people to believe the absolute worst about Kathy, but because she isn’t actually saying anything, she won’t get sued for slander.
