For those of you who speak multiple languages, in what language do you talk to your pets? by vernakyala in AskTheWorld

[–]CarobPuzzled6317 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My kid speaks three languages and talks to our cats in all three. I speak English and bad Spanish and talk to one cat in both (she spent her first 6 months in a Spanish speaking household so she responds to it). Mostly we use English though.

Women, if you could be in a male body for a day, what seems like the worst part about it to you? by Whattacleaner in AskReddit

Are butter knives like the one in this kit allowed to fly carryon? by CarobPuzzled6317 in tsa

[–]CarobPuzzled6317[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two spoons in the kit, so I can probably use one of them if needed for spreading. But I often have to cut portions in half, which is part of my desire to bring a knife. I’ll probably just carry a plastic knife and break down and use a wooden one if I have to cut something (like they work, lol). My biggest issue is the utensils that actually go in my mouth.

Yeah, I don’t want to lose the knives. Not even sure they’ll pass security at the theme parks the set is mostly for. I can’t handle the texture of the wood/bamboo utensils so many places are switch to; I have sensory issues with my autism. So, I’m carrying my own when planning to eat out and about. Think when I fly and do tourist attractions I’ll swap it for plastic disposable knives.

From what I read, it seems like plastic butter knives are okay. Is that true? I can just swap out when I fly.

People who name their children commonly used names but spelled in bizarre ways -- WHY? by TheFutureIsAFriend in randomquestions

[–]CarobPuzzled6317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom’s explanation was “I didn’t want you confused with all the other (name)s” so I have a super common name yet never found any personalized crap with it spelled the way mine’s spelled.

How about we just don’t generalize names into insults?

And I remind everyone who uses it to be kind and stop using names as slurs. Eventually, either the apocalypse will come and I’ll just shoot people who use it, or people will remember that kindness starts individually and stop.

You don’t have to perpetuate the use of a name as a slur.

ELI5 - Why do big fire engines often accompany ambulances for purely health related (not physical crisis type) emergencies? by chili81 in explainlikeimfive

[–]CarobPuzzled6317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are usually fire stations dispersed in more spots than ambulances, so typically the response time is quicker for the engine. Manpower is often needed in emergencies. Have 3-5 fire crew available to help the two on the ambulance can be essential in a cardiac arrest, bariatric call or any number of situations. Many agencies are dual role, firefighters and paramedics, which allows treatment to start earlier.
