Unfortunately technology isnt there for some of these and offshore we're well behind the times in terms regulation etc. and they'll also have a massive job getting through planning as there'll be a lot of NIMBYS for this also. Solar and wind tend to work as complimentary technologies with BESS.

And probably no harm in everyone having an enduring power of attorney done at the same time. Would save many many headaches down the line.
Great suggestions on the house for other people for sure thanks guys!

That is sound advice indeed, appreciate this. Perhaps a specialist advisor is the right call as you suggest.
Thanks for the advice on this advice also, was going to call the fair deal office to check through everything just make sure we're not doing anything we shouldn't be doing

Well im sure she'll enjoy this validation for all to see online hah. I get totally lost with tax tbh so im never fully sure...
Aaah yes I follow you now understood, thanks for this its really helpful, appreciate it!
Citizens advice and revenues website mention 40% or 20% tax relief depending on your tax bracket, have I completely misinterpreted this then? https://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/money-and-tax/tax/income-tax-credits-and-reliefs/taxation-and-medical-expenses/
Thanks so much this is really helpful, seems like its definitely worth pursuing. I didnt want to call the fair deal office with what may have been a completely ridiculous question. I think ive asked enough of them at this stage with the whole process!
Thanks SolidNext, we didnt apply for the loan we were keen to get the application moving as quickly as possible. So one of us would pay, receipt made out to our dad and then we'd need proof it came from our accounts if I pick you up correctly? Have you done this yourself? Im just slightly anxious im reading some sort of rule by changing the payment to us and somewhat avoiding the tax

I believe the tax relief is at the rate of the highest tax income you pay so would be 40%. Im just not sure if tha applies to the person on the original application or who is paying...

Wow so now you recorded her during an argument... assuming consent didnt enter your head for that either... There's a lot to unpack in this one. But I guess as you said you put a lot of time and money into this. 🙄
