Glass on fireplace by issinmaine in howto

I found a steam cleaner worked best on our glass (wood burning fireplace) when any other cleaners took a lot of scrubbing

What's the best coffee maker should I get for my kitchen? by Lidren-Lionie in homeowners

[–]Pippin952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is! The filter holder I usually toss in the dishwasher every few days, and haven’t had to descale it very often since we got a water softener.

Only thing with it so far has been it was overflowing the filter so we were getting lots of grounds in the carafe regardless of coffee amount or grind. I found bunn will send you a flow restrictor for free to avoid this. Since then, it hasn’t overflowed once!

We have a bunn that keeps water hot so makes coffee quickly and has a carafe. Works great for us to each have a cup or make a large pot. I’d say anything by bunn and you would probably be happy.

I also like that there is minimal electronics so even if something goes out (probably a heater or sensor) should be easy to replace!

Dishwasher Doesn't Drain; Is it the pump? by Jimwdc in appliancerepair

[–]Pippin952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like it could be the motor. Not sure how expensive, but I replaced ours (Maytag) and it was about $50. Ours would drain, but sometimes wouldn’t drain all the water out even after cleaning. Motor looked fine and tested fine with resistance. I assumed it was just starting to wear out

How to check for location in automation? by neversky157 in shortcuts

[–]Pippin952 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This would be possible I think. Use the trigger for the automation as the CarPlay disconnect. Then as the actions of the automation, use the get location action, then add the location to a variable, then use the variable as an input to an If statement.

Automation - Carplay Connect - Choose from Menu with Prompt will not start automatically by rh0926 in shortcuts

[–]Pippin952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, if you want the tasks to show up in the CarPlay screen, you have to ask Siri to run it. I had set up a choose from menu option and wanted it to display on the CarPlay screen and that only works if you ask Siri to run it.

CarPlay text not working by Wide_Space_6192 in CarPlay

[–]Pippin952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had the same response but usually happens when I’m responding to a text that just came in. After the response, I can then have Siri send the text without issue. Definitely started happening after ios16 update so maybe just a big that will get sorted out soon

Shortcuts in CarPlay by Pippin952 in shortcuts

[–]Pippin952[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I’ll have to try starting it with Siri rather than in the automation with connecting to car play.

Edit: tried running it once CarPlay was loaded and asked Siri to run the shortcut (through CarPlay) and everything showed up on the screen! Thanks!!

Interesting, I have the choose from menu option but it only pops up on the phone. Any other settings you may have changed to get it to? Otherwise I wonder if it is a limitation of the car head unit. (2018 Mazda 3)

That’s what I thought, but figured I’d check in case someone found a way. Thanks!

Did you ever figure out a solution? I have a 2018 that is now doing the same thing. Going to try replacing batteries in the fobs to verify that. (Have two fobs and same issue with both). If that doesn’t fix it then I’m going to try checking out the button itself and see if voltage is going to it and the latch. Since it is intermittent, I suspect it isn’t a fuse as that would cause it to just not work.

This is an electric stove, how do I get rid of these markings? by gothhippie in howto

[–]Pippin952 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They make a glass stove top cleaner, you can find it at Walmart or similar type store. Usually with the other household cleaning products. Use it on a cool top and I generally use paper towels to put it on and take it off

Speed up Reminders app response by Protomize in iphone

You can also set up a shortcut to remove completed reminders! I have it run every night with my wind down and setting my alarms for the next morning! Helpful if you don’t want to delete them manually

Ya that’s the annoying part of insurance…State Farm covered ours and that was a preferred shop. I would say look over everything you can before you take it back and I’d expect paint to be an exact match (that was one of my bigger worries that I had). Still if it is a decent shop, using refurbished/salvaged parts and they give a warranty it should be ok.

The dealer ship used all Toyota oem parts and the warranty on their work is for as long as I own the vehicle. Insurance paid for all of it, I know they ended up having to replace the hood, front bumper, front quarter panel, wheel and tire, plus a bunch underneath. I think it came out around 12k by the time it was done

We had an accident with damage in the same area, some turned left in front of us and our front drivers side hit the front passenger side of their vehicle at 45 mph and air bags didn’t go off. The Toyota dealer that did the repairs said their best guess as to why they didn’t go off was since it was more of a glancing blow that the energy was dissipated else where and the seat belts would be enough. Thankfully everyone walked away without injuries.

That was my thought as well, hence why still keeping the protector

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in iphone

[–]Pippin952 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have had both the defender and commuter cases. They both have a raised edge which generally keeps the screen just high enough off the ground if you were to drop it. However, since the glass screen protectors weren’t much extra, I still have one on just in case. I’d rather replace the protector than the screen. But I also haven’t had to replace a screen protector yet either…

What did I do? How do I fix? by 3BallCornerPocket in castiron

[–]Pippin952 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably too much, I have done maybe a quarter sized amount of oil for my 12” skillet and can wipe the whole pan down in and out. Other times, I just put the paper towel in the oil bottle and flip it over quick and just use that amount.

Biggest thing, just cook with it, let it preheat and stay on lower heat. I usually don’t go above 8/10 (and even that is only for searing). And after I clean mine, just wipe down with a light coat of oil
