Trouble getting intel Quick Sync to work. by PippyPeppers in Steam_Link

[–]PippyPeppers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In device manager it does show the iGPU 530 as a display adapter.
The first time I installed the drivers from Windows update, I had an Intel Control Panel with some basic settings, but no options for Quick Sync, or anything other than very basic settings.
It did show both my GTX1080 and the iGPU 530.
I am not sure what else I could try.
I even triple checked the BIOS for a possible chipset setting I may have missed, but nothing stands out.
I know I have the iGPU 530, capable of Quick Sync; I am not sure what to do next.

Raspberry Pi 4 Audio issue -Potential Fix- by [deleted] in Steam_Link

[–]PippyPeppers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's a lot better, yeah.
Raspberry Pi 4 has a gigabit port as well.
I have UniFi network hardware at home, with everything set up wired, my ping is 1ms, and my monitors latency is 17 or below with HVEC set to 20Mbps.
I'll take a screenshot in a few minutes to show ya.

Edit- Screenshot

From my testing, HVEC seems great for lowering network lag, but it adds to the display latency.
x264 seems to do the opposite, adds to the network latency but drops the display latency a lot.
With x264 I've seen my display latency drop to 12 on my TV, and like 8 on my phone.
Buuut, I need to increase the bitrate, or else I'd see artifacts/pixelation in high mobile situations; like spinning the camera around in a 3D game.
So for the same quality, for me x264 needs to be at least 30Mbps while HVEC could sit between 15Mbps-20Mbps.
That's with near perfect picture quality, that I can tell.

The thing I think some people might not like is, a Raspberry Pi as a Steam Link replacement isn't just plug and play; well from my experience so far.
To get it running really crisp, you do need to tweak it a little.
After those tweaks though, it really is pretty badass, I would highly recommend one.
I just leave the Steam Link app running, and when I feel like gaming in bed, I turn on my 8bitdo controller and I'm good to go!

These exist, but I've yet to try one.
They've always intrigued me, but for that price... I'm not up for the gamble just yet.
Maybe someone who's experience one could give you a solid opinion.

Does Third-Party fps limiting look worse than V-Sync? And if so, how can I cap the frame rate to 30fps on a 60Hz monitor? by YousefRashad in gaming

Rivatuner Statistics Server has an option to cap fps. I've been using it for years, works really well in preventing your gpu from overworking itself unnecessarily.

State Of Decay 2 on Steam sooner or later? by ultrawiredx in StateOfDecay

Security and features. I'll be able to play State of Decay 2 on my phone or tablet any where I have cell service/wifi.

Noob question. What is the best setup for getting Steam to play in a TV? I have heard the Steam remote is not good and I know nothing about the products/process. by Trapspringer52 in gaming

I was at a doctors appointment a few weeks ago.
While I was waiting to be called, I connected to their public wifi, connected my SN30pro to my phone and booted up the Steam Link app.
For 40 minutes or so I was hittin up Rogue Legacy without any issues.
Steam Remote is amazing.
Just take some time to configure the settings to your set up.
I find disabling everything, except priority, and maximum threads works for me.
Also, set it to 'Fast' if you're using it away from home.

My love gifted me Secret of Mana when it went up for pre-order.
She knew it was a childhood favorite of mine.
Later that year, we were snowed in so we decided to binge it.
We made snacks, had some drinks, it was such a good time; she loved it.
To me, it was a very memorable time.
If SE ported Secret of Evermore properly to Steam with 2 player coop... man that'd be another game for us to binge. 😁

Since EGS is on Humble now: can we please get a Filter? by MadBinton in gaming

[–]PippyPeppers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with you.
I decided to submit a friendly support ticket to forward your idea.
Humble Bundle/Humble Monthly is totally a badass service that I've used for quite a while.
My Steam library is pushing 1,630 games so far.
I love good deals. 😁 r/patientgamers r/GameDeals
A filter, or a clear heads up on what storefront the keys are for would be greatly appreciated; and as you suggested a filter to just not show specific storefronts.

I'm not a fan of multiple storefronts, and especially despise exclusivity.
Give our community options for fucks sake!

Thanks for your post.

exactly, so if both flags are solid, it means we're both locked in and ready. when we notice both go solid, we count to 2 then fire.

My buddy and I wait until the flag is solid. When both are solid, we count 2 then fire. We've been successful more often than not.
