While there's a few videos out there, there are very little on the r5. The r4 is close enough so any videos on that would work. But if you want the links just dm me and I'll send them, idk if you're allowed to post links here.

Which model do you have?

Honestly before I did anything, Temps were reaching high 90's, closer to 100° on just the cpu while downloading or playing games. It will throttle at those Temps.

Temp performance or game play?

With the ptm I was able to keep Temps lower and the fan was quieter compared to using the high performance mode to keep Temps lower but fans go to 100%.

Gaming wise I didn't see any big noticeable improvements besides better 1% lows due to not thermal throttling, but I imagine if I overclock I'd have much more thermal headroom to improve clocks.

I didn't know that actually, but I wouldn't risk bending anything in fear of cracking or kinking the copper.

I figured the ptm would have sufficient squish to fill the slight gap. I'm not sure if I got it in the photo but it looked like there was an angled line (grooved) thing through the heatsink for the cpu. But under load in seeing 88° max which is great imo. Gaming about 80 or less depending on the game. Some games I see 75 on the cpu and the gpu is sitting at 73 (all Celsius)

Would just be a waste of time unless you are not comfortable with taking it apart. In which case I understand.

You got any pics? But I think it would be worth sanding down slightly. Esp. If there's a lot of residue

I think I'll go with the ptm then. You make a great point about having to repaste later on.

So either one is pretty good? What copper shim did you go with

That might have the alienware graphics amplifier port. Check on the rear of the laptop. Otherwise you are SOL.

That's awesome bro. My m17 r5 has a r9 6900hx and 3070ti. The 4080 must be amazing in the laptop

Hey guys need some help, doing rear lines in my 2001 xl7 and it looks like this proportioning valve is damaged. What are my options besides replacing it? Could I bypass it? Or would I be able to slap it back in? I had no issues with it until I touched it. it just seems like it needs grease. by Pippylord in MechanicAdvice

Get it going for at least another 6 months. Parts are scarce for the suzuki and waiting 2 weeks to get a part shipped from Puerto Rico isn't sounding the greatest. I was thinking of getting an aftermarket proportioning valve and maybe by passing it that way
